I think that it is safe to say that you have a drinking problem when you think a commercial about a baby that drinks to much milk is a direct parody of your life. This is the equivalent of walking into a gym, screaming the word bum and having someone stand up a say, who you callin' a bum? You might end up in a fist fight but one thing is for sure, you found the bum.
I have to be careful how I put this so I will use the word "allegedly" to avoid the legal wrath of Miss Lohan. When you have allegedly snorted, drank and or wasted away all your millions because you are acting in a manner that screams "I have issues" you are left with two choices, clean up your act or sue somebody
Out of the dysfunctional pack of party girls that included Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Britany Spears and Lindsay Lohan, all but her have been able to recover somewhat from their prior lifestyles. Britany Spears grew her hair back, fixed her body and is back as if she never left. I haven't heard a peep out of Paris since her stay in the can and though Nicole Richie continues to hope that her man will actually commit to her and their out of wedlock child, she seems to be headed in the right direction.
Though we all laugh at this absurdity, the truth of the matter is that this is a very sad situation. Lohan comes from a problematic upbringing and it has contributed to her destroying all of her God given gifts. Her worn exterior is the emotional dysfunction, sadness and chemical consumption seeping through. This is not to say that she is not responsible for her actions. Young fame has destroyed many lives and careers and the only one that can save Lindsay is Lindsay.
Sean Penn is very upset that American media outlets refer to his BFF Hugo Chavez as a dictator. In an appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher Penn was quoted as saying "Everyday, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it", he went on to say "there should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kind of lies."
Sean Penn is no stranger to making statements that call into question his ability to use rational thought and once again he is not only ignorant of reality, he his also a hypocrite. Back in 2002 Penn wrote to former President Bush in an open letter that called for Bush to be impeached, and also called Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice "villainously and criminally obscene people." Yet the legitimate title of dictator is too much for Penn.
I try to always find the logic or point of view that a person or group is following. This is part of keeping an open mind but Penn's hypocrisy and ignorance is so far off the chart that there is no other explanation than to call this delusional. If you happen to be one of these people who idolize the likes of Chavez and think that criticism of him is nothing more than a government plot to brainwash Americans against the benefits of Socialism then let's look at his actual record.
According to the Human Rights Watch report in 2008, Chavez:
-- Won the battle to remove presidential term limits, amending the nation's constitution in a February referendum.
-- Maneuvered a "political takeover" of the Supreme Court in 2004 by the president and his allies by signing legislation allowing his supporters to "pack and purge" the court.
-- Fired and blacklisted political opponents from state agencies and the Venezuelan oil company.
-- Denied citizens with unfavorable political opinions access to social programs.
-- Required state oversight and certification of union elections.
-- Engaged in reprisals against striking oil workers.
-- Subjected rights advocates to exaggerated charges and groundless investigations.
-- Shut down RCTV, the major Venezuelan TV station, in 2007 by refusing to renew its license. Though Chavez apparently said he was not renewing the license because the station backed the 2002 coup, Reporters Without Borders said in its report that Chavez had a more sinister motive, since another TV station that backed the coup was allowed to continue operating. (RCTV later moved to cable, but was still threatened.)
-- Controls "nearly all the country's broadcasting." Chavez went on TV 1,500 times for more than 900 hours between January 1999 and November 2007. Plus he took up 1,000 hours on his Sunday show Alo Presidente.
-- Pushed for the creation of about 60 newspapers to support his agenda.
-- The penal code was amended in 2005 so that insulting the president is punishable by up to 30 months in prison.
-- Oh an then there is the final play, indoctrination of children, if you think America's public schools are bad, watch this short television report.
Over the course of human history pretty much every group at one time or another has been picked on, oppressed, enslaved or murdered. Living in America today you would not know this considering that public schools tend to present a version of history that paints only certain people as being perpetrators of hate and violence.
Over the course of time some have awakened to the reality that every group is capable of racism, sexism, sexual harassment, religious discrimination and abuse. In today's Sharp Report I examine three cases where troubling, abusive and harassing behavior has been tolerated because the politically correct establishment refused to act.
Usually the behavior is just annoying but in the case of Major Nidal Hasan the unwillingness to acknowledge his radical behavior led to the deaths of 13 soldiers. For years he was allowed to preach his radical views while being promoted at the same time. Do you believe that this would have been tolerated by someone promoting white supremacy?
In a recent study it was determined that sexual harassment claims by men have doubled. Of these cases the majority were male on male. Some were cases where gay men repeatedly harassed straight men, some where women trying to convert gay men and others were straight guys turning the workplace into a Frat house and terrorizing gay men.
Then there is the case of Captain Holly Graf who is under investigation for drag racing another ship and demonstrating a pattern of verbal and physical abuse towards both men and women under her command. Complaints against her behavior go all the way back to the 80's though the Navy, hell bent on advancing a woman ignored the problem.
The point here is that in an attempt to make up for past racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination some have looked the other way while these same acts are committed by members of these groups. Many of the people being victimized were not around when these past injustices were the norm thus creating unnecessary and completely avoidable animosity between groups today.
There is no erasing the past, there is only moving forward. The first step to accomplishing this is not living in the past or allowing inexcusable behavior because of it.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions and soft hearted liberals are full of good intentions. The problem with these good intentions is that they never seem to fix the root of the problem.
Take the issue of adolescent sex. Liberals for years have pushed education and condoms and compared to the time when people actually raised their kids with morals, ethics and self restraint the spread of disease and pregnancy is epidemic.
Times change but common sense shouldn't. We can be more open about sex but what is the point of an age of consent if some are going to make products that assist in breaking the law?
The other issue with sexualizing children is it makes them more likely to become victims of sexual predators. By introducing sex to someone who is looking for love or attention and providing them the means to go about it "safely", we open the door for the psychological trauma that comes with being sexually victimized. The other problem with this thinking is that condoms like all other forms of contraception have a failure rate.
Switzerland's policy is ignorant and short sighted. For every time they "protect" a child from pregnancy or STD they have given permission to engage in activities that they are not ready for physically or psychologically. You wouldn't give a beer to a twelve year old so why would you give him a condom? Oh that's right, so he can have protected sex with the chick he met at the bar. Glad we cleared that up.
John Albert Gardner III was charged with the murder of 17 year old Chelsea King with the added allegation of rape which could lead to the death penalty. This animal had a history of violence stemming back to a 2000 attempted rape of a 13 year old girl.
Due to the lack of a violent criminal history at the time, prosecutors allowed Gardner to plead guilty and receive a reduced sentence of 6 years despite the objections of the Mission Valley psychiatrist that recommended that he receive the maximum sentence allowed by law. That sentence would have had Gardner in jail at the time of Chelsea's disappearance. Gardner is also a person of interest in the 2009 disappearance of Amber DuBois and linked to a December 27th assault on a 22 year old in a Rancho Bernardo Community Park.
We can play Monday morning quarterback all day when cases like this come along but when it comes to violent sex offenders that attack children there should be no plea bargains. As a society we must not give the benefit of the doubt to child predators but unfortunately we have a system that is imperfect.
This imperfection is the very reason why you must not rely on the system to protect you. No teenage girl should be allowed to go jogging through the woods or parks by herself without at least two friends and a can of pepper spray. Personally I prefer it if she be trained in martial arts and carry a machine gun but it is a lot to carry.
I am less concerned with the gun owner that illegally carries his or her fire arm while out alone minding their own business than the sexual predator or serial killer looking for their next victim. I am not advocating breaking the law (wink, wink) but remember it is better to be judged by twelve than carried by six.
I saw a debate spring up on Facebook over this story More states look to ban credit checks on job seekers and some of the comments demonstrate exactly what is wrong with our society. There is a mentality of irresponsibility that has infected many in our generation and causes them to blame all their short comings on society or some evil corporate cabal. Instead of promoting personal responsibility, many of the comments were about how evil companies are and how unfair the system is.
I am happy to know that despite the most stressful job on the planet, President Obama is in good health overall. That being said it has come to light that his doctor recommended that he stick with 'moderate alcohol intake' and 'smoking cessation efforts'. This means that he has not stopped smoking.
Many is this country feel that Health Care is a fundamental right but why should those who abuse their health be entitled to do so at the cost of those who take good care of themselves? There must be a balance between rights and responsibilities and it is essential for President Obama to set a better example for those that have chosen to engage in habits that are detrimental to their health.
One of the most embarrassing things is sitting at a table with a group of cheapskates that split pennies at dinner and then short change on the tip. Not only is it idiotic to think that the two or three dollars will really make a difference in your financial situation but it shows no class.
On the other hand there are a lot of servers out there that are lazy, ignorant and think that providing good service is beneath them because one day they will be a famous actor or actress.
I tend to be generous especially if the server does a good job but I do not consider good tips an entitlement. Tips are a reflection of service and average service earns an average tip unless you have really great legs.
The dispute in today's Sharp Report is less important than the overall debate. I have never been treated poorly by a waiter or bartender that knew me to be a regular. A good server knows where their bread is buttered and a good tip for a job well done usually leaves an impression.
I follow a simple system of tipping so that I don't look like that guy hunched over the bill with a calculator.
10% on the pre-tax amount for below average service
15% for doing your job
20% for doing your job well
30% for a happy ending
Ok, so maybe not the last one but it is a simple system.
I don't know why when the bill comes that extra one or two dollars seems to be a back breaker for some people. Servers know the numbers and the difference between 15% and 20% on a $50 bill is $2.50.
If you are not good at math here is an easy way to remember. Move the decimal point one place to the left. .
EXAMPLE: If your bill is $38.50
Move the decimal one spot to the left. $3.85; that amount is 10%. If the service was average you take that amount and add another 50% or $1.92 which would give you a total of $5.77. Round up to $6 just because you are not cheap. If the service was good then double the 10% amount; $7.70 or $8.00
There good servers and bad ones but when your out, live a little. If a server is that terrible, talk to the manager and explain what happened. That is much more useful to the server and the establishment than lousy tip.
It's getting late and I am tired so I'll be brief. I think that the entire California Assembly needs to be fired. The state is corrupt and running a deficit of 20 BILLION DOLLARS. So it is safe to assume that every minute they are in session they are focused on important issues like illegal immigration, fraud, early release for felons, drugs and the budget right, wrong.
Today they decided to give me one more reason to curse their corrupt asses by passing a resolution to make the first week of March "Cuss Free Week." If that makes you want to drop a few four letter words have no fear, the measure has no enforcement mechanism. It is simply meant to make us all sing in harmony which I pray will happen in November resulting in the expulsion of everybody in Sacramento. So on behalf of the tax paying citizens of this once great state I say, go $%&* yourself!
The media sells us many lies including unrealistic expectations of love and the bliss that comes with meaningless sexual exploits and unimpeded independence. Thankfully there are people out there who study facts so we have something to balance Hollywood fairytales.
Web-MD published an article today pointing out that people in relatively happy marriages were significantly less likely to die of stroke over a period of thirty years. The study backs up years of research that has found that there are physical and psychological benefits to having a stable relationship at home.
Before I got married I was reminded repeatedly of the possible down sides of marriage from guys with the rare exception of a few. Men have witnessed in their own homes with their parents, friends and siblings how miserable marriage can be. Hollywood has jumped on this by emasculating and trivializing men on television. This is the result of an industry that is dominated by social liberals, feminist and gays that have an axe to grind with traditional marriage. The result is a society that views marriage and relationships as a death sentence.
The reality is that marriage is not the problem, crazy people are. We live in a society that embraces every unstable and dysfunctional point of view and then promotes it as equal. Every time someone comes along trying to promote morals and marriage they are ridiculed and vilified as being nothing more that a crazy evangelical. Unfortunately many of the voices of morality are later found out to be frauds, in the closet, cheaters or worse. This kills the credibility of all who are promoting reasonable morality and marriage.
It is important to note that marriage is not the solution to bad health rather a vessel that brings structure and stability to the human condition. Living out every thought, emotion and impulse tends to lead one towards dysfunction. You need not look further than 2008-2009. We had Elliot Spitzer, Mark Sanford, Steve McNair and Tiger Woods to name a few. To suggest that marriage is the problem with these people is just plain ignorant.
We need to lose this notion that marriage is just for people who can't hack the single life and are settling. Stable, honest loving relationships bring joy, peace and enlightenment to those willing to do the work necessary. Relationships like plants or cars need to be maintained. With proper care comes positive results and the results are a life with a little more sanity and 64% less chance of a stroke.
The U.S. Pentagon has thrown common sense, human nature and their own history out the window by moving ahead with plans to allow women to serve on submarines. Critics maintain that unlike surface ship where women currently are permitted to serve, the cramped quarters and sharing of bunks is inappropriate. In addition there are the unique medical needs if a woman becomes pregnant while out at sea.
This is historically been demonstrated with the embarrassing 1991 USS Acadia incident where 36 sailors ended up pregnant. During the fiscal year 2002, the U.S. Navy placed 12.3 percent of their ship-based female sailors on shore duty after they became pregnant.
According to my research it is very difficult to get the military to release statistics on pregnancy in the military most likely due to the politics around the issue. In 2004, Elaine Donnely, President of the Center for Military Readiness told the Washington Times, that despite her repeated requests for statistics on the number of pregnancies which have occurred in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, the Defense Department would never release any such statistics.
This is not just a problem on the high seas. Last fall in Iraq Major General Anthony Cucolo told the BBC he was losing people with critical skills because soldiers were getting pregnant. He added the deterrent of a possible court martial for soldiers that got pregnant while on deployment. The new policy applied to both female and male soldiers, even if married. The male sexual partners of female soldiers who get pregnant would also "face the consequences", he said. It is the first time the US Army has made pregnancy a punishable offense. That policy was overturned in less than a month after Barbara Boxer and three other female Senators complained to brass higher up the chain.
The problem with this politically correct policy is that while it makes feminists like Barbara Boxer happy it ignores reason and reality. Where there are women and men or gay men serving together there will be sex, period. There are no rules that can prevent that but with tough enough consequences the military can deter the reckless and risky sexual activity that the new policy opens the door for.
There will be lawsuits, claims of rape, sexual harassment and broken hearts both straight and gay. All are distractions from the stated purpose of the military which is to defend this nation. I understand that the military can't afford to lose more soldiers but with policy changes like this you are going to lose the soldiers anyway. You might as well lose them before they get pregnant on the tax payers dime or create a sticky situation for a submarine under the sea.
One of the widely held myths about domestic violence is that it is an overwhelmingly male dominated activity and Senate Majority Leader Reid continued to keep the ignorant in the dark by stating that domestic violence is out of control in his state because "men don't have jobs." He also said that "women aren't abusive, most of the time."
Luckily I have facts and here are some about Nevada:
In 2003 Nevada ranked 1st in cases of reported domestic violence. This is long before the recession of 2008(Source: Silent Witness)
Nevada recently dropped from 2nd to 5th in cases of homicide against women. This directly contradicts Harry Reid's comparison
According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence over 40% of the crimes are committed against men
It is true that there is a direct correlation between financial strain and domestic violence but to blame the high rate of domestic violence on the economy ignores the huge pink elephant in the room, compulsive gambling. Historically the closer you get to Las Vegas and Reno the higher the rates of personal bankruptcy. In addition San Bernardino and Riverside Counties in California had higher rates of bankruptcy and are both geographically closer to Vegas. Sacramento County is also near the top of the list and is close to Reno. (Source: The Rise in Personal Bankruptcy)
In addition Harry Reid continues to push the disproportionate myth that women aren't violent. There is no more antagonistic creature on the planet than the human female. Women are not taught to take responsibility for their behavior. When a man kills a child it is murder, when Andrea Yates methodically murdered all her kids it was mental illness. When Barry Williams filed a Restraining Order against his live in girlfriend he was mocked but when Chris Brown hit Rihanna he was crucified.
I am in no way suggesting that Chris Brown did not earn his punishment but if Harry Reid is right then how do you explain the Chris Brown incident or Charlie Sheen's? Both these men have more than enough money and employment. The reality is that there are other contributing factors including drugs, alcohol and upbringing.
Domestic Violence more often than not takes two people. As with most stories there are two sides and then there is the truth. In the case of domestic violence in Nevada, Harry Reid isn't telling the whole story.
In case you were wondering how the athletes keep warm at night at the Vancouver games. I have a hint, Hurry Hard! That is what organizers at the 2010 games are anticipating since 70,000 condoms weren't enough to capture all the attempts at breaking bedroom records in Sydney Australia in 2000.
The "Hurry Hard" condom is the official condom of the U.S. Curling Association. It was named for a phrase curlers cry to encourage faster ice-sweeping. Vancouver organizers have stocked the Olympic Village with 100,000 condoms, 14 for every resident. It's a good thing that Golf is not an Olympic sport; I have a feeling that there wouldn't be enough bags for a certain athlete.
Technology has many benefits as well as unintended consequences that we sometimes don't take into account. One of the more recent cesspools of societal gluttony has been social networking sites like Myspace, Facebook and Twitter.
The website PleaseRobMe.com decided to rebroadcast the Tweets and Posts from Twitter and FourSquare.com that revealed that the user was not at home. They were trying to point out the obvious risk of being too open about your whereabouts at all times. They make a good point however many people have alarm systems, live in gated and locked apartment complexes or have roommates that believe in the 2nd Amendment. None the less PleaseRobMe makes a valid point about the dangers of revealing too much online.
I can remember the day that I went to the dark side way back in 2005. Coming off a break up a friend of mine suggested that I open a Myspace account. My initial reaction was that it was stupid and a waste of time but since time was something I now had on my hands it was only a matter of minutes before I would fall into the trap.
It initially started off as a way to tell my ex to go screw herself by posting every stupid picture of me getting loaded with the girl of the week but as I moved on and the Myspace induced drama started to infect my life I realized the need to take a step back. Now my social networking consists of two groups, real friends and people who follow Sharp Radio.
I try to limit the personal information that I reveal but the reality is that anyone who is willing to spend a little money and do the research can pretty much find out anything they want to. Much of your information is public record or can be purchased for a little as $30.
Like with most technology we can go a little crazy and whether or not cell phones cause brain cancer I can tell you that I spend a lot less time on it. The same is true for these social networking sites. They mainly serve the purpose of titillation and escape from the work you are supposed to be doing at your job.
None the less there is a lesson here that should not be overlooked. We live in a crazy world and even if you have nothing to steal you might be a prime target for a different reason. Scorned lovers, stalkers and rapists can cause far worse damage then a smash and grab crook looking to steal you Play Station. So as much as I enjoy viewing those hot pictures of you in a thong, maybe you should think twice before you post them and your exact location on the web.
No, it wasn't the attempted theft of the Millennium Diamond or any bank robbery; it was the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act also known as the 787 Billion Dollar Stimulus Package. As with every great speech about it we must start by reminding everybody how bad things were when Obama stepped into office. If you didn't know this he will remind you at the beginning of every speech.
The truth about the stimulus package is that it has done little to help the private sector expand. Granted some people have obtained employment but most of those jobs are public jobs. The problem with this is very simple and cannot be masked by any amount of political propaganda, how do we fund those jobs when the stimulus money runs out?
It is the private sector that funds the federal government and without growth in private sector hiring there will be no true recovery. The other problem with the propaganda surrounding the stimulus is the concept of "saved" jobs. There are piles of reports about miscalculations, jobs created in congressional districts that don't exist and millions unaccounted for. Much of the money has been spent on extending unemployment and other entitlements.
The results might endear President Obama to the unions and the welfare state but the rest of the country is not impressed. Only 6% of American actually believes that the stimulus has created jobs. Much of this is due to right wing propaganda that is about as optimistic about Obama as the left was about Bush.
Putting partisan sniping aside, let's just look at common sense. The unemployment number is at almost 10% and we have yet to see a month with positive job growth. The private sector creates wealth and sustains government not the other way around. Until the focus is put on creating a business friendly environment instead of token tax credits, there will be no significant change in our economic situation.
If you think the title seems a bit over the top then you haven't been watching the city of West Hollywood over the last decade. In a city that considers itself cutting edge in regards to pet rights they are about to complete the hat trick of absurdity by banning the practice of selling most animals in pet stores.
This new ordinance really has no teeth since nobody is stupid enough to open a pet store in a city that since 2003 has considered animals "companions" instead of owners. They were also the first city to ban de-clawing cats. Apparently slicing the jewels off a male cat is still humane but when it comes to the claws you need to make an appointment at the nail salon down the street.
As the proud "owner" of two pets that I purchased from like minded animal lovers, I object to the assertion that a city would try to make animals equal to humans. If I were to take a survey of the West Hollywood City Council I am confident that most of them are pro-abortion. Match this with their belief that removing claws from an animal under anesthetic is cruel; it puts things in perspective doesn't it? Then again these are the same people that think they are advancing gay acceptance by holding a pride parade that puts on display every negative stereotype about homosexuals with a follow up performance on Halloween.
I think we can all agree that cruelty to animals is wrong but animals are not people and should not be elevated in status to a point that complicates our legal system. Animals deserve humane treatment but not the rights to run for elected office, get married, buy a car or obtain a fire arms permit. If that all sounds like absurdity then who draws the line? If in fact one cannot own a pet then they are autonomous with the right to emancipation from their "guardian."
It also could be argued that the bond between a person and a pet is co-dependent. Since by law sex is not a required element of human marital relations then why couldn't someone marry their "companion?" No country acknowledges such weddings by law but in 2006 a woman in India fell in love with and married a snake in a traditional Hindu ceremony with 2000 guests. That claim has been made by millions of American women for years though they were using a different definition but who is to say?
Since the general consensus about what "common sense" means has been parsed by those on the social left, I have a feeling that we will look back on the Proposition 8 debate and say with a sigh, boy those were the good old days.
I know I run the risk of being called uncompassionate, cruel and insensitive but the reality is just the opposite. As with my position requiring every immigrant to be proficient in English I also think that every capable American should be reasonably fit.
The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance (NAAFA) is in my opinion no better than organizations that promote the lack of assimilation by immigrants in the U.S. They believe in promoting the problem, embracing it and being more understanding. They promote mediocrity and the status quo and curse those that are not happy with the results of their promotion of failure.
The NAAFA is now calling for the boycott of Southwest Airlines because of their treatment of Director Kevin Smith who was thrown off a recent flight for being too fat. Smith contends that he was within regulations and was able to lower both his arm rests. What isn't clear is how much was hanging over the edge that prompted the airline to act.
The policy that Southwest enforced is very similar to other airlines and should be enforced. We have become a society of ME and conduct ourselves with reckless disregard as to how it impacts everyone else. The fact that you can squeeze into a seat only means that the armrest is pushing the fat around it and does not take into consideration the impact on those around you.
I have compassion for those that truly are ill and can't help their weight. That doesn't mean however that I should be forced to have an uncomfortable flight because of it. Consideration is a two way street and a person's condition whether self inflicted or not does not entitle them to impose on others.
Instead of trying to advance fat acceptance the NAAFA should focus on addressing the harsh realities of living a sedentary lifestyle. There are so many illnesses that are related to being fat from Heart Disease to Diabetes, damaged joints and Depression. How is it compassionate to promote accepting fat when it ultimately will lead to the person's demise?
American culture can get a bit excessive when it comes to beauty but we are also a bit excessive when it comes to promoting baseless self esteem. Making someone feel good about something they should feel bad about is cruel and counterproductive. The best way to face life's cold cruel challenges is head on, not by living in a fairytale where everything is all good including being obese.
A new study came out suggesting that many people don't have the common sense to keep their online nefarious behaviors private even when their scorned lover is gathering evidence for the divorce proceedings.
According to a new study published by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (SHARKS) they have seen a marked increase in evidence gathered from social networking sites being used in divorce cases over the last five years.
So I guess the moral of this story is that if you give people enough rope they will gladly hang themselves. I would hardly call this trend karma though; it is more like flat out stupidity.
We can have a pissing contest if you would like about the decision to invade Iraq 16 months after the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil but I don't have the next twenty years to argue. Along with an economy in decline, President Obama inherited two wars. Actually he inherited one and a half. By the time Obama took office the war in Iraq was no longer front and center on the minds of many Americans. This is because the troop surge initiated by George W. Bush and General David Petraeus worked.
This is the same surge that Barack Obama and Joe Biden said would not work. So why is Joe Biden now trying to credit President Obama with the success in Iraq? When it comes to foreign policy President Obama has walked in lock step with his predecessor all the way down to keeping his Defense Secretary Robert Gates. In addition it was the "Status of Forces" agreement signed by President Bush in late 2008 that has dictated the draw down of troops.
This is not a slam on President Obama, what else could he do? The real question is can he lead America to victory in Afghanistan and in the broader war, uh I mean overseas contingency operation or whatever they are calling it against terrorists, uh I mean extremists.... oh hell Barry just bring me Osama's head on a stick or turn the economy around, maybe fix health care without bankrupting the country and then we will talk about your greatest achievements.
It is that time of year again guys, time to get robbed by jewelers, florists and Hallmark. The question is, are you doing it purely out of obligation or because you have a great woman in your life and you want to reward her sweetness?
Let's take a break from the recent intense debates and have a little fun searching for the G-Spot. I reported a while back about an English study that came to the conclusion that the G-Spot was a myth. Not to be out done by their agitators to the North the French just came out with their own study and in classic French style they disagree.
The English study based its claim on the theory that twins share the same genetics and therefore both twin females should agree on whether or not they have a G-Spot. As with the actual 56% percent of non-twins, researchers claimed that they found no pattern among the twins in their study.
The French who are renowned for the romantic prowess and destinations felt as though this was impossible. They claim that it is not a matter of genetics but use. I am very curious to find out how they tested this theory but it sound like exactly that, a theory. They also referred to scans that point to a bundle of nerves that marks the spot.
I suppose this is a win, win debate since 56% is hardly a mandate on the topic. About that same percentage of Americans believe in Alien life on other planets. I guess if you have a woman that claims to have one, you better find it or she is going to be calling up that ex-boyfriend that everybody told her to dump but possessed the only known map to pleasurville. Maybe if you are lucky he is in jail and won't be getting out for awhile.
If I had not known the true point of the Focus on the Family commercial during the Super Bowl ahead of time I would have been left scratching my head after it aired. There was only one reason why I knew about the ad, purposely watched for it and understood the meaning behind it; the thunderous and vicious outcry from liberals, atheists, feminists and the pro-abortion hacks.
Other than the surprise on-side kick by the Saints that started the second half of Sunday's game, Tim Tebow pulled off the second best play of Super Bowl XLIV. Without a single negative comment, without one word of standard propaganda and without one attack on the pro-abortion crowd, Tebow was able to expose the nasty underbelly of a movement that has hid behind one of America's most prize possessions, the word "choice."
All week I have been talking about problems; now allow me the opportunity to discuss possible solutions. There are two main philosophies driving the debate. The "liberal" view promotes the idea that private industry is greedy, only serves the privileged few and that government has the answers for our nation's ills. The "conservative" view promotes the idea that private industry is better suited to provide solutions for our country.
From its inception America was based on the concept of individual rights, beliefs and solutions. Private industry by nature has to be more creative and provide ideas that actually work. If they don't, they lose market share and go under. The government has no requirement for success. If one ran a business like the federal government they wouldn't last a week.
We can all agree on one thing, entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are the fastest growing drains on our budget. For the last 50 years we have relied on the federal government to run all three of these programs and all three are broke. I find it laughable that Democrats on the hill talk about "change" meaning that we let the government fix health care. Actual "change" would be getting the government out of health care and Social Security.
Here are links to two articles that offer different solutions to the problem. I labeled them "Conservative" and "Liberal" for clarity, not to play the labeling game. I will admit though that I am biased, as I think that big government is the problem, not the solution to this crisis. I recommend that you read both articles and decide for yourself.
I hope this five part series has been helpful. It has been very educational for me and given me a greater understanding of both points of view. The financial and health care mess we are in goes back to FDR and have been made worse by a government accountable to nobody.
Technology has offered us the opportunity to educate ourselves so we don't have to take sides blindly. That being said we have become a sound byte society that "feels" instead of "thinks". We have no excuse for being ignorant and following the party we have sworn allegiance to in spite of the results and facts. We have the means and the opportunity to hold Washington accountable; I suggest we do it before the Debt Clock runs out.
So what is your "Debt Ceiling?" You probably would tell me that it was a combination of your savings or what you know you could afford based on those savings in correlation with your income. That is how most people pay down debt but that isn't how congress operates.
In an unprecedented move the Democrats without the help of one Republican vote increased the Debt Ceiling to 14.3 Trillion dollars. They also voted to pass PAYGO but it was loaded with exceptions.
In a move that is clearly political the Republicans on the hill are trying to pretend that they are fiscally responsible even though they voted to raise the Debt Ceiling three times when they were in power with Bush in the White House. As disingenuous as their recent objections to spending your money is President Obama and the Democrats are trying to spend their way out of debt and there is a reasonable debate as the effectiveness of this policy.
In fairness President Obama did walk in the door with a huge debt over his head. He explains it very intelligently in his exchange with Republican Representative Jeb Hensarling of Texas. WATCH IT HERE
The sanest proposal I have heard so far was proposed by Republican Senator Jeff Sessions and Democrat Senator Claire McCaskill. Their proposal would limit increases in discretionary spending to 2% each year for the next five years. This is spending that is NOT required by law. 39 Republicans and 16 Democrats voted for it causing it to fall short of the 60 votes required. This is most likely because that is where they hide much of the pork and as you know it is very difficult to separate the pork from the pig.
If I were to ask you to freeze your budget, except for food, gas, rent, clothes, utilities and medicine you would probably make the case that you can't save all that much. The same is true for our government but for some reason they don't see it that way.
President Obama's three year spending freeze is a nice token gesture but it lacks the kind of bite necessary to have a real impact on our nation's skyrocketing deficit. The three year spending freeze would only impact programs and agencies that have yearly budgets allocated by Congress.
Defense, Homeland Security, Foreign Aid and the fastest growing part of the budget, Entitlement Programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security are all exempt. The total saving over 10 years, 250 Billion dollars or 250 Oprah Winfreys. This will save less than 3% of the 9 Trillion that we will rack up over that same decade. In case you were wondering that is 9000 Oprahs.
While I applaud the symbolic nature of the freeze it is equal to buying a Bentley and taking a pass on the GPS option. About 40% of the Federal Budget is spent on Entitlement programs almost double what we spend on defense. I can't see how we expect to really make an impact on our debt until we are willing to look at these two political hot spots and make some decisions that actually are tough.
I now see why I did not become an accountant. When I try to figure out the IRS tax code it reminds me of a saying I once heard; if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bulls**t. Politicians have mastered this art and doing the research to cut through it all is not my idea of a good time.
In Part 2 of my special report about the new Obama budget I want to explore the evil Bush tax cuts that we are constantly hearing about. This issue has been exploited by the Democrats and our President in a way that is nothing short of deplorable. The amount of misinformation pumped out by the class warfare machine is hard to keep up with so I have tried to simplify it as much as possible.
The question at hand is what will happen when the Bush tax cuts expire besides make those horrible rich people pay more in taxes? The answer is that your taxes are going up too. If you fall into the 25% Tax Bracket (about $33,000 to $82,000 per year) you are being moved from the 25% to 28% Tax Bracket. Maybe this only equals out to $500 per year but if I held you up at gunpoint and took that money I suspect that you would be a little upset. If you happen to be one of those forward thinking individuals that have investments that pay a dividend well then maybe you should sit down first. The tax on your dividend is about to jump from 15% to 39.6%
I can understand why you might have liked the tone and spirit behind the campaign and election of President Obama. He is an intelligent and charismatic man but trying to raise revenue by taxing more is not only a historically counterproductive way to raise federal revenue, it punishes the very people who he was elected to help, the middle class.
Today I begin a 5 part series, analyzing the new Obama budget. I am going to be as fair as possible but I must admit that I am getting a little sick and tired of hearing how tough things were when he started. President Obama promised to change things and since he took office the deficit has tripled under his watch.
In today's report I look at the proposed $5000 per new hire tax credit that is supposed to stimulate economic growth. I view this as an artificial attempt to improve the unemployment numbers and it is logically absurd. Hiring employees does not create growth but lower taxes can increase profitability which could lead to jobs.
This plan offers little to small businesses and even less if you are a start up. Companies that take advantage of this credit are most likely already doing well and not expanding as a result of the credit. This will cost the federal government millions is revenue and result in a net loss is profits for any small business looking to expand.
I say yes but liberals entrenched in the idea that they can reprogram humanity to fit their social agenda disagree. In today's Sharp Report I tell you what I think of this attempt to marginalize Dads. This is not an attack on gays but rather in defense of Dads and common sense.
Let's talk about an issue that is calm and completely unemotional, religion. In the never ending debate about the separation of church and state there are the radicals that want to die on every hill no matter how far it deviates from the obvious stated intentions in that non-living and non-breathing document called The Constitution.
In today's Sharp Report I talk about The Freedom from Religion Foundation's objection to the latest USPS commemorative stamp honoring one of the World's most beloved humanitarians, Mother Teresa. I also explore the issue in-depth in my latest column "Atheists stuck on stupid over Mother Teresa stamp" which is just below this report.
I am not an automotive engineer but I do have common sense. Finally today Toyota has stopped production of 8 different models due to a mechanical problem with the accelerator pedal.
In today's Sharp Report you heard the horrific 911 call made by Chris Lastrella just moments before he, off-duty CHP Officer Mark Saylor, his wife, Cleofe, and his daughter Mahala, 13 were killed while driving a loaner Lexus ES 350.
Initially Toyota was making the claim that the defect was related to the use of an improper floor mat that pinned the accelerator down. It appears that the all-weather mat was not designed for that vehicle and may have slid forward. What confuses me is how does a stuck accelerator pedal cause the breaking system to fail as you heard in the 911 call?
I am not with the anti-corporate crowd that believes corporations intentionally ignore fatal flaws in their products purely because of greed. I do believe however, that company's keep problems quiet too long for fear of lowered stock value, potential lawsuits and loss off market share in an extremely competitive market.
If you own a Toyota that is on one of the lists, bring it back immediately. It isn't worth the risk that Toyota took, hoping that they would come up with a solution before it cost an entire family their lives.
Stay Sharp!

I spend hours trying to find interesting articles or come up with a good story to comment on. I take pride in the fact that I care about truly offering my subscribers information or some point of view that is of some value in their lives.
It really aggravates me when I see an established site like Men's Health phoning it in with an idiotic article such as this one. 15 Things She Doesn't Want to Hear in Bed. The list was not only useless but it wasn't even funny.
So let me offer some perspective for the guys out there that are having a tough time in the bedroom as I can assure you I have made many mistakes and tried very hard to learn from them. Here is MY list of things you should or shouldn't do in the bedroom. READ MY LIST HERE
Why is it that every time somebody gets caught on the dust, in the bottle or between the legs of some unsanctioned tramp they claim that they are addicted to that vice? The answer is simple, it works. We have become a society that can't find a middle ground between Burqas and Club Hedonism.
There was a time when the concept of personal responsibility was commonplace and we all basically agreed on how much slack to cut based on normal human fallibility. Unfortunately in this new age of "open-mindedness" we have opened our minds so far that it appears that the brain has fallen out.
Tiger Woods suffers from one major problem, he needs to learn the word "no." It is that simple. We all have desires, we all have urges and that will never ever go away. Tiger is rich, powerful and famous. Along with his level of success comes a certain sense of entitlement. It takes a very strong man to turn down the non-stop temptation and that is why so many celebrities and athletes crack under the pressure.
Somebody should get Derek Jeter to write a book on how to be a bachelor and never have to apologize for being a man with opportunity and no moral obligation to a wife. I don't know Mr. Jeter but I admire the fact that he has stayed single, been focused on his career and never put himself in the position of having to do the national apology tour.
There are legitimate medical reasons for acting out sexually and it is insulting to our intelligence every time one of these people with little self-restraint try to fall on the sword of sympathy. The eye rolling answer to most of these problems is a simple word, "character." I think its a shame that we spend all out time searching for ways to justify bad behavior instead of just acting like adults and owning up to it.
A bookstore in Connecticut is taking heat for a new change to their policy requiring employees to speak English around customers. The outrage over this issue is a clear demonstration of how an attempt at compassion can turn into an unintended act of cruelty by those claiming to be on the side of immigrants.
We are constantly told that it is racist and cruel to expect that people who come to America learn English and assimilate to their new home. For some reason it is fine for France to ban Burqas, Mexico to require citizenship to own land or vote and in the EU (European Union) under the new guidelines, illegal immigrants can be held in specialized detention centers for up to 18 months before being expelled.
But let's just put aside the worldwide conspiracy to push those escaping poverty, war and oppression onto the doorstep of America's welfare and government aid roles. After all this country was founded on the principals of "give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses longing to be free." This is one of things that make America a special place in the world but it is the opportunity that comes after you arrive that is the essence of American Exceptionalism.
Liberals and immigration advocates angrily cry "racism" when people suggest that as an American citizen or "undocumented" resident you should speak English. They even get away with using words like "compassion" to make their case. To this I ask one simple question, how is it compassionate to tell people that they don't need to speak the language required for ultimate success in America? They are in fact encouraging failure, ignorance and an inability to succeed in this country.
Studies have demonstrated that most employers consider an ability to effectively communicate to be the most valuable skill in a potential candidate. How can you expect to be of assistance to a customer, sell a product, or convey and idea on any large scale in America without the ability to speak English? Then there is this study which shows the difference in incomes between those who have learned English and those who have not.
In 1999, the average employed immigrant who spoke English very well earned $40,741, more than double the $16,345 earned by immigrants who did not speak English at all. The increasing scale of English proficiency and earnings was recorded at every education level from less than high school through master's degree and beyond. (Source: Educational Testing Services, A Human Capital Concern: The Literary Proficiency of U.S. Immigrants, March 2004)
The reality here is that those "advocates" who claim to hold the moral high ground on this issue are the ones hurting immigrants more than anyone else. I believe they are racist and cruel to tell immigrants that they do not need to learn English because they are sentencing them to a life in the shadows and outside of mainstream society.
Nobody is suggesting that you forget your heritage or throw away your customs but American is not your doormat, America is the place you came to so you can escape poverty and oppression. Many people died in the pursuit of freedom and liberty and if not for your own personal success then do it out of respect for the tremendous opportunity you have been granted.
I know the title is a bit antagonistic but hey, I want you to pay attention. It is a valid question for those in the public eye who have a spouse that has decided to get up on their own soap box irregardless of the consequences to their spouse. In today's Sharp Report I offer a point of view on the topic and explore the issue in-depth in my latest column "Should Cindy McCain keep the duct tape on her mouth?" The column is just below.
In a world full of famine, disease and natural destruction it makes me ill to think that there is anyone that would waste valuable scientific research money to study something that can be determined by common sense.
Experts in London have discovered a correlation between excessive sitting, obesity and heart disease. If the shock of such a meaningless study doesn't give you a heart attack then it appears that the recliner will finish you off. They also try to claim that working out once a day might not offset the effects of extended periods of time on your bum.
To make matters worse, experts said more research is needed to figure out just how much sitting is dangerous, and what might be possible to offset those effects. While we are at it why don't we study the effects of standing up for hours on end and see if that is bad for your joints?
There are real medical issues that need to be tackled and spending money on meaningless research in an attempt to justify one's budget is irresponsible and a misuse of public funds. If you think that this sort of stupidity only takes place somewhere else, here is a list of ridiculous studies that have been done here in the United States. LIST OF STUPID STUDIES
Not all change is progress but try and tell that to the millions of American males out there that are handing over financial responsibility for their families to their wives. According to a new study by the Pew Research Center, there is a role reversal taking place in America's homes. Men are now benefiting more from marriage than women.
Not only have the number of women graduating college surpassed men but women's income have increased by 44% as opposed to 6% for men. In addition, the economic crisis traditionally hurts men more than women especially in the area of manufacturing.
I think that it is great that women have decided to get their education and obtain a career. My applause stops though when men hand over responsibility for the financial stability of their homes to their wives. My reason is simple; I believe that it is a man's responsibility to provide for his family... MORE
Yes folks, it is true. The party of Lincoln was also the party of King. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a registered Republican, and so were his father and grandfather. They associated Republicans as the party of Abraham Lincoln. According to Alveda C. King, who is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dr. King, did not align himself with the Democratic Party. In his view it was Southern Democrats that had the attack dogs, cattle prods, and lynch ropes denying blacks their rights as they enforced the segregationist policies of Jim Crow.
It wasn't until 1960, when Dr. King was in Birmingham, Alabama jail, then Senator John Kennedy called Coretta Scott King and, in essence, made a deal that if the King Family switched parties and supported him for President he would help get Dr. King released and switch his vote to support the Civil Rights legislation. Kennedy had originally not supported the legislation. In fact JFK voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act which was proposed by Dwight Eisenhower who was, you guessed it, a Republican.
The question now is, will you continue to hold on to your factually incorrect view of history or will you reassess your position? The crime is not being unaware; the crime is being aware and still ignoring it.
Yes I agree it sucks. You spend 17 years making millions to host a late night show that you tape at 5pm and finally get promoted to The Tonight Show only to have it taken away less than a year later. It is like having your girlfriend dump you for her ex, going home with a trans-sexual or finding out that your winning lottery ticket was one digit off. There is just one slight difference, actually 30 million slight differences.
Unlike the other examples I gave and thankfully never experienced, Conan not only has millions of fans who will blindly hate Jay Leno but Conan is reported to be receiving 30 million dollars to say goodbye to The Tonight Show; this in addition to a reported open door at FOX.
I guess Jay Leno could say no to NBC and leave them with no choice but to keep Conan but that is no guarantee that he would get to keep his gig. This is show BUSINESS and the only thing that matters is money. This is obtained through getting the highest ratings and clearly Conan is not getting the job done.
Part of the problem with Conan is mass appeal. His shtick is very childish and "Tonight" is supposed to be funny, not childish. I will admit though, I have enjoyed watching him more over the last week than ever before. He is actually showing signs of testosterone and behavior that resembles someone of adult age. There is nothing like a good axe to grind to bring out the funny in any situation.
Last night Jimmy Kimmel took it to Leno on his (Leno's) show by saying that Jay has 800 Million Dollars and that Conan has kids to feed whereas Leno only has cars. Certainly I can understand Kimmel's argument if this was Conan's first gig but no matter what happens, they all should be set for life.
When Brett Favre left the Packers and then wanted to return he was rejected. The Packers had decided to move on and they stuck with it. It was the honorable thing to do and under the circumstances it was time to move on. Why risk losing a great quarterback like Aaron Rodgers when Favre was near retirement anyway? The situation is not the same at NBC. Leno easily has another 10-15 years in him and his style is a better fit for that show and according to the ratings, that time slot.
Conan has a great resume and he should take this opportunity and his 30 million dollars and start fresh. I know it is tough to leave what is familiar but with that kind of cash to cushion the fall, I think even that lanky funnyman will avoid a broken leg.
I have been watching the news from Haiti and I am floored at the level of poverty in that small island nation. It is estimated that over 5 million dollars has been raised just by Americans texting "Haiti" to 90999 and it is a testament to our generosity and spirit as Americans.
It also occurred to me how much we complain about our lives here in America when compared to most of the world we have it easy. I don't care that some surveys rank France as a better place to live or that the Danes are happier. America is a unique place that offers opportunities to succeed not found anywhere on Earth.
How often do you meet immigrants that have come to the United States from impoverished nations and are able to amass huge fortunes using the system we have been taught to take for granted?
We have corruption in our government but compared to nations like Haiti our government looks like a shining model of efficiency and integrity. We complain about healthcare but if you were hit by a car and had no health insurance your life would still be saved. In many places around the world you would be left to rot in the streets.
We waste time text messaging, uploading drunken pictures to Facebook, give updates from the ice cream stands on Twitter and Skype, whatever that is. We have citizens that assault drive through windows because the fast food joint is out of chicken nuggets and then sue the restaurant for making us fat.
Yes things could be much worse, but if you turned on the news prior to the earthquake it seemed as if it couldn't be. Why does it take such catastrophic suffering somewhere else, for us to realize how could it is to be here?
Asking a woman how to get a woman in bed is about as useful as asking a convict if he is guilty or not. Ask Men dot com published a story about interpreting the difference between flirting for fun and flirting with intent. The article was written by a woman and that is obvious because only a woman would draw a distinction between the two.
Don't get me wrong, I think that women can offer insight into the complex and contradictory mind of the average female but I stop short of asking them for the key to the bedroom. The "men" out there that have willfully handed over their testicles to the master think my view is archaic and chauvinist and I frankly think these guys are doormats. Furthermore the guys that spend their time consulting their female friends for advice are doing so because they are not getting laid.
The biggest problem with asking a woman for advice about another woman is that what they say they want and what turns them on are two different things. Then there is the added burden of societal judgment that comes when a woman expresses out loud in public what really rings her bell. All these forces cause a fluctuation in response and unintended misdirection.
Why is it that women will constantly talk about wanting men to be more sensitive but then they go and date a guy that that cracks their ass in the bedroom but never picks up the phone? Women are turned on by the bad boy but they rarely advise a guy to act like one. What about the fact that men and women interpret the same actions or words completely differently?
Enter the topic of flirting, why would you try to play the all too confusing game of figuring out what her flirting means? Women sit around and analyze behavior, men don't or at least they didn't until this whole metro-sexual craze hit. If you look at hard evidence and are honest with yourself there is usually little left to analyze.
Here is how a man interprets the common flirtatious behavior that was discussed in the article.
PROLONGED TOUCH - You want to have sex
FLICKER OF THE EYE - You want to have sex
BRUSH AGAINST THE ARM - You want to have sex
HAND ON THE LEG - You want to have sex
HAND ON THE HAND - You want to have sex
EYE CONTACT - You REALLY want to have sex
What women know but pretend to be ignorant of is that if a woman is sexy and friendly the male ego automatically wants to believe that she is interested. It doesn't matter if you have as much chance as a poor man at a Playboy party. The male ego is just as capable of convincing a guy that he is desirable as the female brain is at convincing a girl that a booty call can lead to marriage.
The issue of "exclusivity" is addressed in the article too. So if she is flirting with the entire office then you should REALLY pay close attention to the signs. My response to that is absolutely not because she is an attention whore. Girls that bounce around the office are to be ignored even if they are standing in front of you naked with a neon sign. These girls are trouble and might cost you your job. If you think that you are going to just swoop in for a quickie in the broom closet and there will be no consequences then you also must love Las Vegas.
There is absolutely no need for the Captain Crunch Decoder Ring when it comes to figuring women out. If you have credible evidence that a woman is interested, i.e. she goes out of her way to talk to you, calls your from Starbucks to ask if you want one too, invites you out with her friends and doesn't whore around the office then ask her out. If she says yes then, DING, DING, DING, She is interested.
Some girls have a bottomless pit of emotional need, some are just friendly and some are actually interested. Asking them out on a date will end the debate. There is no need to waste time and energy interpreting little behaviors when a simple yes, no question will get the answer that counts.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told an audience at the 2009 Crunchies Awards that social norms are changing and people don't expect or want nearly as much privacy as they have in the past causing Kevin Bankston, a senior staff attorney with the Electronic Frontier Foundation to put the blame on Facebook for norms changing in the first place.
We have a country where only a small percentage of the populous hold a majority of the wealth. I believe it is because only a small percentage is willing to do what is necessary to obtain it. Most people are not leaders; they are followers yet most complain about the destination of their own lives.
When it comes to the issue of personal responsibility, the same holds true. Most people don't want to take responsibility for their lives. All you have to do is look at how our society has become so litigious for proof. From suing for spilled coffee to voluntarily consuming too much alcohol, cigarettes, television, internet, porn, casual sex, we are a country incapable of admitting that our life is a product of our own choices.
Internet privacy is no different. Facebook, Myspace and Twitter tapped into our adolescent narcissism and exploited it for profit and I say, nicely done. All of the major television networks exploit this same need for attention and have made billions with so called "reality TV." People line up to audition and smear their dysfunction all over our television sets and we beg for more while at the same time mocking it.
There is no Facebook Police; you don't have to say where you really live. You don't need to use your real name and you don't have to publish your personal contact information. If you choose to take pictures of yourself naked, drunk, hooking up and committing crimes and then post them on the WORLD WIDE WEB then you can't complain that your privacy has been violated.
Technology has provided us the opportunity to reach out and touch strangers, exchange information, culture and experience. We have to be mature enough to use discretion about what information we choose to share. Think of it like inviting a stranger into your home. Would you bring them in your bedroom and then open up your underwear drawer? Then why would you post private information and photographs on a forum that is so easily accessible?
Here we go again, is it African American or black? Leave it to the PC crowd to set us up for yet another argument that gets ignorant people distracted from real issues and focused on superficial ones.
The 2010 Census form that was approved by Congress more than a year ago has some upset because the word "Negro" is an option under race. They also have the word "African-American." Then Glenn Beck jumps into the debate and states that African-American is not a race.
In my opinion both terms should be removed from our lexicon. The Census is designed to get generalized demographic information about the U.S. It is not a place for you to tout your culture, heritage or lineage irregardless of how detached you truly are from it.
Beck used a good example to make his case, Charlize Theron who was actually born in South Africa and became a U.S. citizen. It does not matter that her lineage goes back to Europe because she was born in Africa. What about Wyclef Jean? He, like some of my closest friends are actually Haitian. Race, country of origin and religion are all different things. What about Jews? Judaism is a religion but they are often categorized in a manner consistent with race. Then we have Native Americans and what about Eskimos?
The whole argument eventually digresses into a Spike Lee movie and everybody in the room is angry. What is the point of this fight?
There are proper times to display the uniqueness of your ethnic heritage. Grouping people together on a census form is not intended to marginalize your heritage; it is meant to keep things simple. From the moment I entered grade school it was hammered into my head that we were a melting pot but the reality is we are a hypersensitive, selfish pot of melting narcissism.
I am sick of feeling like I am on the verge of offending someone who is black and from the Bronx by not using the term African-American. I am well aware how your ancestors most likely came here and it is not racism that is motivating me to describe you as black. I am married to a Filipina but I often refer to her as Asian despite the fact that it isn't quite that simple. Even she refers to herself as Asian sometimes.
There are legitimate reasons to discuss the complexities of race but nobody ever wants to talk about mine. I am just a white guy right? Well at least my lowered level of sensitivity makes filling out the Census easy.
I will never profess to be a "dating expert" but I do have considerable experience on the playing field. I didn't have a sister to let me in on all the "chick secrets" nor did I have the confidence out of the box to swoon the ladies. Most of my experience was in the school of hard knockers, Los Angeles.
One thing that was obvious to me from the start though was whether or not a girl was interested. This should be common sense but I constantly see tips about reading body language on other men's advice websites. True, there are subtleties to dating but most of your initial introduction will require some basic situational awareness and common sense.
No matter what girls tell you about just going out to dance with their friends the truth is, the single ones are at the club to meet guys and the taken ones are there for either an upgrade or a booster shot to their confidence. If I am wrong then why do girls spend hours getting ready and break out their best skirt and shoes every Saturday?
The other problem with paying too much attention to these subtle body language tips is that they aren't enough information. Maybe her arms are crossed because she is cold, maybe she is PMS-ing or maybe she is a little drunk.
Here is some golden advice that is 100% guaranteed. When a woman is interested and enjoying your company everything flows easy. Things aren't awkward, she isn't constantly off to the bathroom with her girlfriends, she is listening to what you are saying and equally contributing to the conversation and she is open to dance, have a drink or exchange information.
At any point you can blow it too. If there are 10 things required to bag the girl you are pursuing and you botch number 10, you are toast most of the time. You have to use common sense and always be willing to pull the rip cord if things go sideways.
In a society stuck in therapy and a dating scene that at times looks like a riot at the local insane asylum, it is understandable why we try so hard to get every little dating tip or attach meaning to every little movement. But the big secret to fixing your dating woes more often than not has more to do with you than it does with the shifting of her feet.
In a politically correct society it is considered bad, racist, sexist, homophobic etc. to exclude ANYBODY. That is unless you are creating a group that does not include straight, Caucasian, Christian males that are in shape. Well enter a man who is up for all the negative attention that America's PC crowd can dish, Robert Hintze, Founder of BeautifulPeople.com.
I can't blame anyone for wanting to date attractive people. I have never heard anyone say that they were intentionally searching for an ugly person. But all too often in the pursuit of the perfect exterior we miss the all important interior and end up with a really good looking but empty relationship.
I also think that instead of getting upset at a website those that have not brought their best possible self to the dating game should clean up their act first. Hit the gym, shave, get your teeth fixed, upgrade your threads and clear up your skin. There is a big difference between being superficial and wanting to be with someone that makes the most of the hand that they are dealt.
Dating is one of the best examples of the free market. Those that put in the effort and time tend to net the best results. If you want to bag a hottie then bring you're "A-Game" but don't forget that character should be part of the equation too.
According to a new study out of the University of Minnesota the answer is no. In a poll of 1,300 people between the ages of 18-24 they found no difference in emotional well being and self-esteem between the fifth of students that were casually hooking up and those in committed relationships.
So drop your pants and go crazy right? Well maybe not so fast. What the study doesn't address is the differences between men and women. Despite the insane ramblings of feminists who insist that the only difference between a man and a woman is the inverted penis, we don't handle the emotions surrounding sex the same.
Men are very simple in this area. We value what we have to earn. Since most young women these days are so lacking in qualities that don't include lying on their backs they convince themselves that casual sex is the mark of a worldly, empowered woman not constrained by the old traditions of oppression. Men take advantage of this twisted logic and get as much sex as possible until the girl starts asking where she stands. Then women protect themselves from enlightenment by believing that men are just pigs. They leave out the fact that a pig can only get dirty if there is a convenient pool of mud to slosh around in.
As age and maturity settle in women eventually get hip to the game and start conducting themselves in a more dignified way. This usually happens after 24 and that is when the consequences of being a trashcan for the local fraternity kick in. Often the realization that acting like a slut wasn't the best plan happens once sex is occurring in the context of marriage. This may account for the lack of interesting sex that plagues many marriages though I know of no study that has made this that connection.
In the end there are many consequences to screwing around above and beyond that of the emotional. People are different and not everyone is going to react the same way. We can agree though that pregnancy out of wedlock, AIDS, Herpes and a slew of other delights can come from a lack of discretion in the sex department.
I am not suggesting that we go back in time but I do think that there would be less dysfunction, disease and unhappiness if we would use more common sense, self respect and delayed gratification in the dating arena.
It is pretty common for us to take things we hear from so called experts on faith and not question it. Most people are afraid to push doctors for detailed and clear explanations because we often feel like it isn't our place despite the fact that we might be getting the wrong information.
For 29 years sex therapists and sex toy peddlers have been talking about a spot inside the Vagina called the G-Spot. It isn't an actual organ or even something that can be seen. It is "thought" to be spot where a woman through stimulation can have a heightened sexual pleasure.
Now a study comes out that calls into question if there is even such a thing as a G-Spot. About 56% of younger women claim they have one but from my experience with women in their twenties, I would take that with a grain of salt. Most women aren't truly comfortable with their sexuality until their late twenties and into their thirties and if a spot like that exists, why does it seem to disappear for so many women the second they get a wedding ring?
The power of suggestion is more profound than the medical knowledge of the average girl putting out on a Saturday night. Some girls fake orgasms, others don't know how to have one and then there is the vast majority stuck in between.
I also find it interesting that the woman behind the Kings College study felt "anxious" to prove the non-existence of the G-Spot because many women feel sexually dysfunctional if they feel they lack one. She made no mention of the poor guys out there that have been stabbing away in the dark in a futile attempt to hit a mirage that held the key to a second date.
In the end it really doesn't matter if it exists or not. Every person has different hot spots that can be exploited for pleasure. Instead of listening to experts, try listening to your spouse or girlfriend. Communication, intimacy, commitment and openness will net you much better results than hitting a "spot" any day.
So how am I supposed to spin this story so I don't get called a racist? Two black NBA players allegedly drew guns on each other in the locker room over a gambling debt. To make matters worse they both play for a basketball team in Washington D.C. which is notorious for gun violence and the team they play for used to be called "The Bullets."
What is it going to take to purge those in our society, who make millions with talent minus the intellect, of acting as if they are still living in an environment where this sort of behavior is necessary for survival or in the very least socially acceptable?
I propose that we encourage more athletes with hot tempers to join the NHL. When white guys get into fist fights on the ice it is mono a mono, there are no guns, knives or grenades involved and they beat the crap out of each other. Then it is over and nobody loses their career or goes to jail.
It might be that we are less outraged at the thought of white guys fighting because we are racially biased against young black males or it might be less upsetting because the violence is contained to the hockey rink. The other big difference is that the fights are usually one on one on skates.
Either way I think the lesson here is that your behavior should be appropriate to the situation. Life is full of disappointments and failures so if you are lucky enough to be paid millions to do what you love, show appreciation for your blessings by elevating your attitude to match the paycheck. These athletes are supposed to be professionals and that should mean more than getting paid.
A funeral home in Georgia has a new take on discouraging drunk driving, offer them a free burial. It appears that the goal is to make the deadly result of drunk driving real to those who chose to do so.
I don't know how well thought out this idea was because there are many crazy people out there and if someone actually does sign the contract and kills someone else, it is very possible that they can be held liable for encouraging reckless and criminal behavior.
Putting all humor aside the sad reality is that more often than not the drunk kills somebody else and that is no laughing matter. So this New Years Eve and every day that follows please don't get behind the wheel if you are looped. I know the concept is to have absolutely no alcohol but I'll settle for keeping it under .08.
Privacy advocates are upset about the prospect of full-body scanning technology being used in America's airports because they say it is equivalent to a "virtual strip search."
I agree that the thought of a total stranger basically seeing right through your clothes is uncomfortable but it is important to remember the context. The images are not in color and it isn't as if the screener will have the opportunity to gain sexual satisfaction from the occasional sexy woman that runs through.
I know that isn't the point behind protecting our privacy but it really doesn't matter what your point is. The reality is that we are fighting a determined enemy that is willing to die in the process of killing you. That is a very difficult enemy to stop and in the context of airline travel I am willing to concede being comfortable to stay alive.
We as a nation have to stop pretending that we are safe and that we are not at war. It is very hard for some Americans to stomach the reality that is the rest of the world. Some ignorantly believe that terrorism is just a result of American Imperialism and that if we just appear more understanding and compassionate to the plight of extremists, they will leave us alone. This attitude has emboldened the enemy to once again take their fight to the skies.
As the story of the Christmas Day terrorist plot unfolds it appears that the government dropped the ball and we can't rely on them alone to keep us safe. If we have the technology available to prevent a terrorist from sneaking explosive materials through airport security we should use it.
Every week it seems that there is some celebrity, politician or person who has abused the public trust begging for a second chance after getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
The PR playbook to deflect the seriousness of the event is so standardized that I know it by heart.
Step 1 - Ignore the charge.
Step 2 - Deny the charge.
Step 3 - Stonewall the press and pray that someone else screws up more and distracts the media
Step 4 - If all else fails acknowledge the charge and ask for privacy.
Step 5 - Repeat Step 3.
Step 6 - If the calls for your head don't subside hold another press conference and take responsibility using language that dilutes the seriousness of the offense. For example, if you are caught having sex with 13 women, including a porn star, behind your wife's back refer to it as a "transgression."
Step 7 - Repeat Step 3.
Step 8 - If the calls for your head don't subside hold yet another press conference and take responsibility using stronger language preferably with your wife or someone else you have victimized with your behavior standing by your side. Claim that you have an addiction and are seeking treatment.
Step 9 - Repeat Step 3.
Then there are people like Osvaldo Hernandez who join the military and heroically serve their country and THEN and ONLY THEN asks for a previous, non-violent offense to be expunged from the record so he can yet again serve his country in a civilian capacity.
The difference between the PR playbook and Mr. Hernandez is that he has earned a second chance. So next time you screw up, don't shrug your shoulders and ask for forgiveness and another shot, demonstrate that you deserve it by putting in the work to show that you truly are a changed (and sharp) man.
IRONY (Noun) - an outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected. This sadly describes airport security these days and it is a result of a combination of political correctness and incompetence.
If I told you that airport security was able to stop an innocent, unarmed newlywed with legal proof of identity from boarding a red eye flight from Ontario, CA but was unable to prevent a radical Muslim from Nigeria whose own father alerted the U.S. Government that he was a threat from boarding an international flight with explosive underpants you would think that ironic, right? I was thinking that it was more along the lines of flagrantly absurd and a statement of how insanely incompetent, irresponsible and dangerous things have become.
My experience with the TSA is not uncommon either. They are not allowed to "profile" and at times it appears, use common sense. Now I understand that they have a difficult job. The general public is irresponsible, ignorant, they don't listen and often smell. Dealing with this while working for a federal bureaucracy that has instructed them to pay as much attention to little old ladies as young Muslim men makes me want to cut them some slack but not a free pass to be completely ignorant and incompetent.
Clearly having Barack Obama in the White House has not helped stem the tide of Islamic Jihad and his pick for Homeland Security is starting to make me feel like I would be safer walking through Detroit at Midnight with open bags of money then getting on a plane.
Even after this most recent breech of security White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs referred to this attempted murder of hundreds of airline passengers as a "potential terrorist attack" on Face the Nation. Potential, is he serious? It was a terrorist attack and it only failed because the bomb malfunctioned. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam to Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked." She has since backtracked from that statement claiming that she was taken out of context.
The ugly truth here is that we are at war with radical Islamic Terrorists. The goal is to WIN this WAR against ISLAMIC TERRORISTS that do not fly under any particular flag. The Geneva Convention, good will, hopeful thinking and any other form of assessment other than logical analysis of reality is useless in this fight. The administration must stop with the verbal semantics, transparent attempts at appeasement and misguided liberal policies.
The solutions to this disease on our planet are violent, offensive, uncompromising and permanent. It is time the Obama administration face this reality before we are faced with yet another day of horror in which hundreds or maybe thousands of people lose their lives.
It happens every year, some idiot gets all up in arms about a Nativity scene or some store refuses to reference the word Christmas. In the endless and futile attempt to please everybody yet offend nobody we find that we have accomplished nothing and insulted our own intelligence and values as a society.
It is politically incorrect to say it but in America there are two major holidays that mark this time of year, Christmas and Hanukkah. In recent years there has been an attempt by some to include other holidays that are celebrated by a small percentage of people and somehow elevate them to be equal in participation to the two major ones
What puzzles me is, why is it so difficult for those trying to homogenize the season to just let Christmas and Hanukkah enjoy the spotlight? Between the two holidays you have covered the vast majority of Americans. Why are we so frightened to acknowledge them by name?
It isn't that I am offended by the term happy holidays, it is that I know people are saying it out of fear that I might be agnostic, atheist or some other form of humanity that is offended by the mention of Christianity.
For those of you that have been duped into believing that Kwanzaa is an actual holiday you should do your homework before you light up your Kwanzaa tree or those candles. Funny, did you ever notice that there were two other major holidays around that time with candles lined up and a tree? It isn't that I mind the celebration of African culture, it is the obvious and stated intention of its founder to undermine and separate from the established traditional holidays.
The bottom line here is that we have arrived at a place in history where it is now acceptable to insult, ignore, trivialize and water down anything that is held by the establishment. Not everything "establishment" is bad and it shows the very ignorance that is condemned to water down the essence of these long held traditional holidays. As far as I am concerned, those who think that they are more intellectual, open minded or otherwise enlightened by the elevation of other holidays, you are the ignorant, the weak of mind and especially of spirit. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and may GOD BLESS YOU in spite of your ignorance.
With the election of Barack Obama we saw a new era in class warfare take place. While he has vilified "fat cat bankers" and the rich, he ascended to the highest office in the land with donations from rich people, bankers and appointed multiple tax cheats into his administration.
But let's put the flagrant hypocrisy aside. The country has been divided by the left into two groups, the haves and the have-nots. The liberals have maintained that all the country's economic problems are due to those greedy rich people. Ironically enough it is the rich, who create industry, create jobs and pay the majority of taxes but I digress.
Democrat Representative Peter DeFazio from Oregon talked about growing up and his days as a caddy for the rich in a recent article in The Hill (www.thehill.com). What was so troubling to me was his attitude towards those who were very wealthy. "They were servants for the rich, as was I," he said. "I shagged golf balls for rich people. I carried golf clubs for rich people, and I learned very early on, when I was pretty young, that this was a group of people that had nothing special to offer to me or to society."
This mentality will keep you poor, angry, ignorant and most likely voting Democratic. Don't be fooled that the Government has the answers to your success. Chances are you can learn something very valuable for those who have prospered in this country.
Not all rich people are good, look at the Kennedy's but not every rich person became wealthy with shady stock deals and bootlegging. Most successful people are first generation millionaires and earned their money the hard way. Learn from them, practice their techniques and then when you are wealthy you can give it all away to poor people who think that you are the devil; oh you want to keep your money now, that's what I thought.
Meet Tim Mann, Male Empowerment Coach, Author and expert in the arena of male growth and success. Tim is the Founder of the 90:10 International Institute and professional speaker. He is a proponent of what he refers to as "The Uncommon Man."
I interviewed him on Friday to discuss male empowerment, the role of men in our society and Tiger Woods. In part one you can learn what male empowerment is, how the financial crisis has impacted men and how gender roles have changed.
In part two we discussed Tiger Woods and what the possible motivations for his "indiscretions" were as well as what it means to be an "Uncommon Man."
It is easy to stand in judgment of people that we don't know. From the outside looking in, Chris Henry appeared to be nothing more than a trouble maker who could not seem to get his personal life in order enough to enjoy the tremendous gift he was granted, an NFL career.
Five arrests, suspensions from the NFL and three children out of wedlock, yup sounds like a pro athlete. But if you talk to his teammates, coaches or Owner of the Cincinnati Bengals' they paint a very different story. To them, Chris was a man turning the bend, on his way from the brink of self destruction and about to live up to his full potential. All that ended because of one bad choice.
The reality and perceptions are both right. I am sure he had a big heart and was making an effort to improve his life but that is not enough. You can only play with fire, live in drama and chaos so long before it will finally catch up to you.
Looking at his life as a whole he clearly had a pattern of behavior; this is not an isolated event. The tragedy here is that a fiancée, three kids and a career that most men dream of having was not enough to give him poise and walk away from the dispute that lead to his death.
Men do not have the luxury of being guided by emotions. We have responsibilities and the duty to keep things in perspective. True, he was only 26 and maturity takes time but you can't count on that. Time is the great unknown in all our lives and if you are not careful, that time can be cut unnaturally short.
How is it possible that a school system can produce results so poor, that the math scores suggest that the students did not even attend school?
The problem with public education today is not necessarily teachers; it is a culture of irresponsibility in the homes of children. Hope, change or government bailouts will never replace the value of good parents. This truth is not racist, it is reality. It is time to face to real issue facing today's inner city schools. It is not the budget, it is the family.
Who said that Christmas is just for the kitties? Between the bad economy, Tiger Woods and Elf labor being shipped to India, you really can't blame Santa for wanting to knock back a few. Maybe next time he should make sure that is designated driver is not more intoxicated than he is.
From the Appalachian Trail to the green mountains of the Pacific Northwest, America has so much to see. If you like the outdoors you can spend a lifetime hiking from sea to shining sea and never really see everything. So why would you take the risk of ending up in a third world country's prison for espionage just because you have a thirst for adventure?
From the Asian journalists captured by the North Koreans to the hikers caught in Iran this is what I consider to be real American arrogance. I do not consider encouraging freedom and Western sensibilities to be arrogant but thinking you can cook Smores on the border of Iran is.
It might be that these people actually are spies. If that is the case then we need to reevaluate our undercover techniques. Either way this just gave Iran another opportunity to make a mockery of an administration that can't seem to really accomplish much in regards to foreign policy.
Good thing Bill Clinton has some free time on his hands. Maybe he can take a trip to Tehran and bend over; I mean broker another deal like he did in North Korea. It probably will only cost us a small fortune and signing off on some nuclear arms, piece of cake.
Welcome to the efficiency and common sense of the federal government's bankrupt business, the U.S. Postal Service. With a society engaging in high tech crimes and identity theft you would think that there would be tighter security in regards to your mail. If you thought that you would be wrong.
When you fill out a change of address form, there is no photo ID requirement. In theory you could redirect someone else's mail, possibly long enough to gather enough personal information to steal their idenity.
For the record, mail theft is a FEDERAL crime if you get caught but we can't seem to find Osama Bin Laden or the guys who created that Anti-Virus malware that terrorizes people who are surfing You Tube at work.
This is a perfect example of why you cannot rely on the government to protect you. It is your job to be aware; it is your job to STAY SHARP!
** Call the USPS and ask them why they don't require a photo ID for Change of Address forms at Call 1-800-ASK-USPS
I pride myself on my ability to articulate my belief that men have lost their way. Many have been beaten into submission by feminism, the divorce culture and Hollywood's emasculation of men in sit-coms and movies. From college classrooms to their own homes men have been become the excuse for everything wrong in the lives of women. Today Levis Strauss just said what I have been saying, only better.
Thankfully there are people like myself who are sick and tired of being the target of women's self-inflicted misery. We are tired of being told that we are only good for a paycheck and a lucky sperm. We have grown weary of the double standards, the slutty antics and the games. We are starting to realize that without the strength of good men, the world becomes unglued.
The days or rabid feminism are coming to a close and I along with many like me will rejoice as we put the final nail in the coffin of this disease on our society. Women have been made miserable by a concept whose honorable beginnings have turned into poison between the sexes.
I applaud Levis Strauss for having the testicles to risk ridicule and hissy fits, boycott and the venomous ranting of that hag on The View with a name so contrary to the reality of her being it is hysterical. Yes, Levis is my new favorite company. Winning this fight against male oppression takes guts and a willingness to WEAR THE PANTS!
On Thursday afternoons between 4 and 6 Pacific Time I engineer Patti Stanger's (The Millionaire Matchmaker) radio show on XM 22 and 24. I was asked by Destin Pfaff to offer my observations about John and Kate Gosselin and their marital dysfunction and divorce.
I am amazed at the massive breakdowns in our national security. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration inadvertently revealed closely guarded secrets regarding airport passenger screening practices when it posted online this spring a document as part of a contract solicitation.
There comes a point when these sorts of "accidents" become borderline criminal. There is no way to know who has seen this secret information or to quantify the potential risk to our safety as a result. I guess we need to go back to profiling; oh wait that would be bad, we might offend somebody. Sleep tight.
There are days when I can't stomach the typical news of the day. Between the stupidity in Washington DC and the absurdity of the growing Tiger Woods sex scandal, I just want something different. Thankfully there is always some redneck trash out there that will save the day.
I really don't know where people like this come from but I certainly am entertained by their dysfunction. Granted, the self inflicted misery in these people's lives is sad but there comes a point where sympathy stops and hysterical laughter begins.
So kick back, forget your troubles and spend 90 seconds hearing about somebody whose situation sucks just a little more than yours.
I am going to upset a lot of people with this one but I really don't like parades. Even as a child I had absolutely no interest in watching parades on TV. If I want to watch cars move slow down the street I can crash funerals with Will Ferrell. From the Christmas to New Years Day, the drag show that clogs up Los Angeles for Halloween, gay pride and AIDS our society has a sick obsession with folding chairs and blocking traffic.
Everybody thinks that their cause is more important then the rest of us and our need to get around the city. Now that I think about it that is exactly the problem. There is a selfish narcissism about the whole damn thing. At least on Christmas and New Years people aren't working or doing their weekend errands.
Then there is the absurdity of the AIDS awareness parade. Unless you have been living in a cave since 1985 you are aware of AIDS. From ad campaigns on TV, radio, billboards and the public schools handing out condoms, there is no need to shut down streets in the second largest city in America. If you really want to do something about AIDS then make it a Federal crime to knowingly have unprotected sex while infected and focus on the psychosocial motivations in the community where approximately 85% of the infections take place (Source:Center for Disease Control).
So next time you plan an event, don't shut down Main Street, rent out a parking lot NEXT to Main Street. Besides, if I am all aggravated about the traffic jam that you have created, how receptive can you expect me to be to your message?
Andy Murray just got dumped and not for the reasons that seem to plague most athletes these days. Instead of being caught sleeping with some tramp that brought him his drinks he was dumped for his love of video games.
It used to be that once you crossed the age of about 16 you traded in your joystick for a much bloodier and frustrating game called dating. The urge to get some action is rarely trumped by anything but for this generation of Toys R Us kids that doesn't want to grow up the game system is just too hard to walk away from.
I used to play video games to unwind after school. In college my roommate and I would kill time playing NBA Live 95 on a SEGA Genesis and pick random teams out of a hat. When it was Thursday or Friday night that Sega collected dust because we were out trying to meet Mrs. Wrong, who was desperately trying to cure her Daddy issues in our dorm room.
I think the immaturity that technology has brought out of men these days is troubling. We are losing our ability to interact in the real world and sacrificing some of the greatest human pleasures to do it. Don't get me wrong, the games these days are pretty cool and the graphics are amazing but none of that trumps sex.
Video games can be therapeutic and a great stress reliever but Murray's seven hours a day is absurd. Guys like him need to grow up and properly prioritize their lives. I think that Kim Sears made a sharp call in pulling the plug on the relationship.
I am fed up with famous people who have so much going for them but for some reason all the fame, money, power and women still leave them with the feeling that, there is just something missing. Now that I think about it, there is something missing, appreciation.
The narcissism, the excess and the entitlement of the modern day celebrity is disgusting and those that treat their blessings with such frivolity should be shamed. Society needs to knock these people off their pedestals and focus on those who are worthy of our accolades, like soldiers, police officers, fireman and teachers.
It is unfortunate that we are so obsessed with fame and fortune and completely repelled by the advocacy of something that is so much more important, character. I guess if the long list of fallen celebrities and politicians were not enough to convince Tiger to keep his clubs in his bag, maybe a multi-million dollar divorce will. Some people just have to learn the hard way.
I don't lack patience or compassion but I am wearing thin on both in regards to obese people demanding that they only have to buy one seat when they clearly need two or three.
This is not just an issue of convenience either, it is also one of safety. How can we expect that in an emergency that they will not be an obstruction to the other passengers trying to escape?
We need to be realistic in our expectations and reasonably compassionate but I am sick and tired of seeing society being pushed around by a few that feel that their circumstance is more important than the rest of us.
As the scandal about whether or not the claims of man made global warming have been exaggerated grows, we have another casualty. Phil Jones the director of the Climatic Research Unit will relinquish his position until the completion of an independent review into allegations that he worked to alter the way in which global temperature data was presented.
I believe we need to have a clean environment and support legislation that prevents the pollution of it. What I object to is this apparent twisting of data and the collusion of forces to sell us a lie. Thankfully it appears that the inconvenient truth is that we have been sold a bill of goods.
In general I believe that if you sign up to be a celebrity then you need to accept that your private life might become public knowledge. I disagree though that Tiger Woods has signed up for this sort of invasion of his privacy.
Tiger Woods is a golfer, not a regular celebrity. His playing ability is the focus of our accolades. I can not remember a time that he was focused on chasing women, partying or otherwise acting in a manner that would draw attention to his life off the course. He is married and has a child, not eight of them.
Every married couple has fights and it is not our business what goes on within his home between him and his wife. If they had a fight and his accident was the result I am sure they both learned their lesson. As far as the rumors of an affair, both he and the alleged mistress deny having one.
Based on how Tiger has conducted himself thus far I think we owe him his privacy. He is a public figure but that fact alone doesn't grant us an all access pass into his home. Besides, we have Heidi and Spencer, Tom and Kate and John and Kate to nauseate us enough already.
One of the great myths of war is that there are rules. Like civilian laws, only the good guys follow them. Despite this fact there are some in power currently that have made our fighting men and women the target of their investigations.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has made the CIA's interrogation of terrorists the focus of his power and has decided to prosecute the 9/11 conspirators in civilian court despite the fact that they are not U.S. citizens and attacked the nerve center of our military, The Pentagon. This will undoubtedly put the United States on trial instead of those who murdered its citizens.
We have the case of Army 1st Lieutenant Michael Behenna who is serving 25 years for the "murder" of a known Al Qaeda operative and now three Navy SEALs being charged with giving the mastermind behind the murderous plot that killed four civilian contractors a fat lip.
I do not in any way believe that our military is above the law. I also believe that unless we are absolutely certain that one of our own is guilty of a war crime they should be given the benefit of the doubt.
Whether it is naked pyramids in Abu Ghraib, a fat lip for a terrorists or water boarding these supposed crimes against humanity pale in comparison the world wide slaughter of innocence by radial Islamic jihadists. From the 1983 attack on the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, 270 on Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988, 224 in the 1998 attacks on U.S. African embassies and the countless deaths caused by jihadists in the Middle East and Africa it should be abundantly clear who is on the wrong side of history.
Join me in supporting our fighting men and women. The least we can do is not prosecute them for defending our right to live free and in peace.
I totally agree that the image of Michelle Obama depicted as a monkey is racist and shows tremendous disrespect to the position she holds in this country. Despite my disagreements with the Obama administration's worldview and policy positions you will never see me resort to the level of disrespect shown toward our previous President.
Google decided to remove the controversial picture of the first lady most likely to avoid a visit from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. I only wish that Google would show the same level of respect to George W. Bush.
As racist as the image of Michelle Obama is, the First Amendment is used to justify these gross depictions of George W. Bush. I would respect Google much more if they would be even handed in their censorship. I guess the First Amendment only applies if you are trashing certain people.
Next time you plan to cheat on your significant other, take sick leave, defraud your insurance company or do anything that might burn you down the road try and remember not to memorialize it on Facebook.
It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words but the person in today's Sharp Report can be summed up in one, STUPID!
You know things have gone too far when two dudes with enough makeup to clean out the MAC counter at Macy's make out on stage and I am not even slightly shocked. It isn't that I am more comfortable with gay sex on my television, it is that I am so far beyond being shocked that I am barely interested in even writing this piece.
In addition to feeding into every stereotype about gay men in the entertainment industry, Adam Lambert basically told us that he doesn't believe his singing is enough to keep him in the spotlight. His actions are the equivalent of a power lifter pushing around a computer nerd to prove his strength.
If you have talent, let that speak for itself. I really don't care that he prefers penis and throwing that in our collective faces says more about his need for attention than his ability to hit a note.
I think that the American people have cause to feel discontentment with their government but complaining is a waste of time. No matter what the economic situation in this country some people succeed and others fail.
It is common practice to complain more when your guy isn't in power but in the end it really doesn't matter. Many of my friends that hated George W. Bush made more money and advanced further in their careers in those eight years than ever before. Instead of feeling good, they complained as if W himself fired them.
Success is a choice that can be helped along with some luck and the Federal Government getting the hell out of the way. The less they tax, regulate and baby you, the more likely it is that you will succeed in life. There has been and always will be corruption and unfairness in the system. Those that truly want to make it in this world will do so in spite of this fact.
I don't expect to like every trend that comes down the pipe but some just perplex me. Why are so many men wearing obnoxiously skin tight jeans?
I have a few theories. Maybe they don't have testicles or maybe they are metros just itching to come out of the closet. The trend makes me ask scary questions such as, where do they keep their wallet?
It could be that this is a worldwide cabal by feminists and gay male designers trying to torture straight men with pants that are too tight. Whatever the reason, the trend is ridiculous and those wearing these obnoxiously tight jeans should be ragged mercilessly.
Guys leave the skin tight clothes to the ladies, it looks much better on them.
If you are a magnet for police tickets, this might be your last best hope for salvation. In an attempt to make peace with the powers that be my wife decided to buy dinner for two California Highway Patrolman at IHOP last night.
I can't say for sure that this will decrease her likelihood of receiving a ticket but it is a nice thing to do anyway. If you think about it, everybody likes fireman and paramedics but the cops get no love. They deal with criminals, bad drivers and a society that refuses to take responsibility for anything that they do wrong. Then when one goes bad, they all pay the price.
So no matter how you slice it, they earned their pancakes. Let's just hope that with a full stomach they won't feel like writing my wife a ticket for a little while.
Everyday I hear Americans complain about jobs being shipped overseas and then I read a story like this. U.S. lags in paid sick days, work benefits. According to a recent study that was published in Reuters, America lags among "competitive" nations in regards to worker benefits such as paid sick leave and various forms of maternity leave.
The 15 nations are Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Britain and the United States, all of which have been ranked most competitive over the last decade by the World Economic Forum.
If you will notice, the countries where most our jobs are shipped like China and India aren't on the list. The reason being is somebody in the world has to get up off their duff and make the goods we rely on everyday. Sadly we have become a society that expects limitless benefits, high pays and an absurd amount of vacation time. This is not how America was built but it is how it will crumble.
If America wants to re-establish the middle class then manufacturing and business creation is the key. As long as unions are having sleepovers in the White House and the Government wants to regulate and tax corporations to death jobs will continue to go overseas and more Americans will be forced to rely on the Federal Government for support.
I guess if that happens there will be no need to call in sick since there won't be any work to miss. Not to worry, I am sure the stimulus will create a "shovel ready" post at a local ACORN or SEIU branch in your neighborhood.
Political correctness has ruined many things but for the fans of the Washington Redskins their name isn't on that list. In addition to a surprise win over the Denver Broncos the skins can rest easy that there team name and logo will remain the same.
I am confident that this is not the last we have heard from those who spend their time looking for something to be offended about. If they care so much about the welfare of their people then they should be less concerned about an NFL team and more focused on the important and pressing issues facing the American Indian community.
After multiple terrorist attacks both at home and abroad the Clinton Administration tried to pursue terrorists through tradition law enforcement methods. This included trying the 1993 World Trade Center bombers in Federal Court.
It can be argued that this tactic resulted in the worst terrorist act ever committed on U.S. soil (9/11). So if trying terrorists in open civilian court did not cause America's enemies to reconsider murdering us, why is Attorney General Eric Holder prosecuting the 9/11 plotters in civilian court?
The complications of civilian court could endanger U.S. security by revealing anti-terrorism tactics and telegraphs that no matter how heinous the act, the United States will grant you the same rights as U.S. citizens.
The administration would be best served if they acknowledge that our enemies will never relent in their pursuit of a murderous agenda because we grant their detainees Miranda rights. No matter how you slice it, we are at war. The fact that they do not fly under any particular nation's flag is not just cause to try their cases in civilian court.
I am sure you have all heard by now that Mike Tyson had a run in with a photographer at LAX in Los Angeles. So I dug into the Sharp Radio archives and found an old sound bite from Mr. Tyson to gather some perspective.
I understand that the paparazzi is trying to make money but their constant harassment of those in the public eye is antagonistic and at times borders on criminal. As far as I am concerned, if you want to stick a camera in Mike Tyson's face, you are operating at your own risk.
Rest assured, if you plan on causing a stir by preaching morality, the powers that seek to subvert society's moral compass will dig to China in an attempt to find anything dirty in your past. From Preachers to beauty contestants the list is chock full of those who didn't clean out the closet before getting on their soap box.
I assume in time I will piss off the wrong person and an old college photo of me hammered will make its way to CNN. Until then I'll enjoy throwing eggs at the immoral, evil and ignorantly liberal.
There has been an overwhelming effort on the part of some to wage a full scale assault on those who risk their lives on a daily basis protecting us. The fact that every person on the planet is biased is irrelevant to the facts of any given case.
From Los Angeles to Fort Hood we have seen examples of political correctness going so far that radicalized Muslim soldiers have been overlooked, pedophiles have been missed and elderly people are being frisked at the airport. This has resulted in inefficiency and most recently the death of innocent people.
I agree that we must create guidelines that prevent the unnecessary targeting of innocent people but there is a point at which we must acknowledge reality. I think it is time we start showing the good people of this country more courtesy than the criminals
There are some in this country who are enamored with the false notion that European style Socialism will lead us to a fair and utopian society. With the promise of entitlements comes sharing a limited supply of goods and services with a limitless supply of people. This leads to rationing.
In Venezuela their loud mouth leader Hugo Chavez is now asking the people to limit their showers to three minutes. According to Chavez, that is "more than enough" time. Somehow I think one would need more than that to remove the stink of his dictatorship.
I understand the need to not punish American Muslims that deplore how their religion has been hijacked by radicals but we still need to acknowledge reality. There is no other group of people that has such a large percentage of its population directly involved in or sympathetic to the mass slaughter of innocent civilians around the world than Islam.
Immediately following the killing spree at Fort Hood, Los Angles deployed officers to protect local Mosques. While I understand that the gesture was meant to demonstrate our solidarity with the Muslim community I was insulted. In that action they are saying that non-Muslims are the enemy. They are profiling us as being a threat to them. I find this action to be ironic in the least and racist at most.
Around the globe the disease of radical Islam has murdered thousands of innocent men, women and children. Much of this took place long before the invasion of Iraq and in countries that have little or no involvement with U.S. policy.
Those that support or fund these terrorists groups are very duplicitous. There have been multiple incidents where people have claimed to not have any ties to radical Islamic groups and it was later revealed that they were directly connected to terrorist activities. Islamic terrorists have demonstrated an amazing ability to wait patiently and deploy with lethal accuracy after years under the radar.
We cannot hope to set Islam free of this disease to their religion or offer any guarantee of safety anywhere home or abroad as long as we continue to ignore the reality before us. President Bill Clinton ignored the writing on the wall and 9-11 was the result. For eight years President Bush kept the heat on terrorist groups and their financiers and the result was zero attacks on American soil for the remainder of his presidency.
Political correctness and misplaced guilt and compassion threaten our way of life. America's enemies know we are a compassionate, forgiving people. Terrorists both home and abroad will continue to exploit this weakness until we wake up and face the reality of the fight we are in.
In every state where gay marriage has been put to the voters it has failed. In the five states where it is legal it is because it was pushed through by liberals in the legislature of those states.
I don't believe that this has anything to do with rights. It has to do with the meaning of the word marriage. If it is furry with a tail and it barks, it is a dog. If it is furry with a tail and it meows, it is a cat. They are similar but not the same. So why are so many trying to call homosexual unions the same thing as straight ones when they are clearly not the same?
Given the significant religious meaning of the word marriage I think it shows tremendous selfishness on the part of the gay community to insist on forcing their definition of the word on the other 95% of the population. Most Americans support civil unions but not gay marriage. If coming up with a different word to describe something that is obviously different is the difference between obtaining the rights you seek or not, isn't in your best interest to come up with a different word?
I know you mean well and I REALLY appreciate it but asking me the two questions in today's Sharp Report is pushing me to drink. As my bride has said to me many times, we are getting married, we are not moving to Afghanistan.
When Marvin the Martian tried to blow up Earth and Bugs Bunny stole the detonator he said, "There was supposed to be an Earth shattering kaboom." If that is what you are waiting for you either picked the wrong woman or have unreasonable expectations.
It appears to me that the big shock about getting married is that there really is no big shock. It is a good thing I liked my relationship the way it was.
Stay Sharp!
If you have a hankering for some classic Bugs Bunny, here is a link to the cartoon I discussed in today's Sharp Report. HARE-WAY to the STARS 1958
I don't care if you vote Republican or a Democrat but if you made your choice for reasons other than the politician's actual record or lack there of, don't complain about the results.
Many were caught up in the feelings of hope and change. For those trusting souls, the burn of reality is resulting in a voter revolt that may result in a bloody day for Democrats.
It is our duty as Americans to do our homework and vote based on facts not feelings. To do otherwise is to betray our sacred responsibility to our children and our country.
I love when people back home ask me if I ever see celebrities as if it were some sort of honor. It is more like staring into the sun; pointless and bad for your health. Last night I went bowling and Kevin Federline waltzes in.
In general I prefer not to rip people I don't know but in this guys case there is so much to rip that even I can't resist. I am sure he is used to it though. When your résumé is based more on who you have impregnated and less about your actual career you are asking for it.
My advice to K-Fed, enjoy the money, the extremely over-drawn 15 minutes and please, no more baby mamas!
I am always amused by the detachment from reality displayed by "artists" in the entertainment industry. The more they speak, the more I wonder why we buy the junk they peddle.
For the musicians in today's Sharp Report I have a simple question. If your music is so bad that the U.S. Government is using it to "torture" terrorists do you really want to bring attention to it by objecting?
Furthermore America could only hope to see the day when her enemies idea of torture included playing music too long and too loud.
If you don't want your PC to become PC then you need to voice your opposition to "Internet Fairness." If you think that the Patriot Act was an assault on your rights then you should be alarmed at the sudden growth of our Federal Government and their desire to control everything from the auto industry to you Internet service.
Let's put down the Kool-aid and try to think logically. When somebody gives you something for nothing it is human nature to abuse it a little. The problem is that somebody has to pay for the gluttony. In today's Sharp Report I explain how turning health care into a right can bankrupt the taxpayers.
Unless you are Benjamin Button you most likely want to plan your life in the order that God intended. So why is it that my insurance company is planning my funeral before I have even had my wedding? Find out in today's Sharp Report.
Life has a funny way of telling you that you are in the wrong place or maybe even the wrong line of work. Clearly if you can't handle a woman crying then armed robbery is not the best career option.
I was under the impression that this sort of desperation only comes with a Republican President oppressing the little guy. You know that you need a better economic policy when citizens are trying on crime for size.
Abortion supporters have long hid behind the word "choice" to defend their almost rabid desire to terminate life within their body. This position is held despite the multiple choices that could have been exercised prior to getting pregnant. These choices include pills, condoms, patches, injections, rings, IUDs, waiting till marriage to have kids, picking a man that actually wants to be a Dad, waiting till they were financially stable enough to afford kids and the always mocked abstinence.
As you can clearly see there weren't many options available to the woman OTHER than abortion, right?
I understand that some women do horrible things within the context of an abusive relationship but there comes a point where a line is crossed. This woman undoubtedly has an express pass at her local abortion clinic and now is going to profit from her Uterus of death. I hope all the feminists are really proud of their sister.
In today's Sharp Report I examine two examples of an assault on reasonable intelligence. First is the dropping of Rush Limbaugh as an investor in the St. Louis Rams because of fabricated quotes and second, Noam Chomsky comparing "right wing" media to the Nazis. Be better than those who fall prey to bomb throwing and race baiting. Get the facts, examine the evidence and have the character to entertain the truth.
In case you didn't know, Maria Shriver is related to the Kennedy family. Her mother is Eunice Kennedy Shriver the sister of JFK. So when the story broke that California's First Lady was breaking the new law that bars one from driving while holding a cell phone I wasn't surprised.
For a Kennedy, Maria Shriver-Schwarzenegger is a relative lightweight when it comes to breaking the law. If she wants to keep up with her Kennedy roots she is going to have to step up her game.
In America you have the right to believe what ever you want, even if it is completely ignorant. I don't understand why anyone would be offended by the tangible representation of that freedom and those who protect it. Call it ignorance or arrogance but there are some people in our society that believe the American flag is not something to be cherished.
I don't care if you always love your country or agree with its politics but you should always be respectful of the symbol of that freedom and the sacrifices it took to preserve it. You have the right to disagree and I have the right to call you an idiot.
Love him or hate him Rush Limbaugh is the biggest name in talk radio and he also has the biggest wallet. He also has a profound love of Football. He recently has put in a bid with the owner of the St. Louis Blues to purchase the 0-5 Rams but Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are objecting.
What does their opinion of Rush Limbaugh's execution of his First Amendment rights have to do with the purchase of an NFL franchise? Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson have made themselves rich by playing the race card far too many times. The fact that some people disagree with Limbaugh's opinions on racial politics should not disqualify him any more than Sharpton's and Jackson's profiteering off race should disqualify them from buying a house.
With steroids, sexual assault, drug trafficking, murder for hire and roughing the passer why is the NFL taking all the fun out of the game with senseless penalties like taunting and excessive celebration. If a player holds up the works for a dance that is too long then hit them with a delay of game penalty. Excessive theatrics should be handled on the team level, not with penalties and fines.
I enjoy seeing a creative display in the end zone or little smack talk on the field. With network television showing graphic sex and violence on a daily basis I think we can relax about T.O. bringing a Sharpie into the end zone or a little post-sack smack.
A study came out that suggests that the pill might be influencing the dating choices of women. It might be possible but I think that feminism gone wild and the divorce culture are the real culprits. Read the study, listen to my report and make up your own mind.
It has been eight years since the war in Afghanistan began. By taking our focus off Afghanistan and putting it on Iraq the Taliban was able to regroup. President Obama referred to the Afghan war as a war of "necessity" but is stalling on taking the recommendations of General McCrystal.
Since I am not a military warfare expert I will defer to the people who fight wars for a living, so why isn't our President? When you elect an inexperienced person you get inexperienced results. George W. Bush made plenty of mistakes due to his lack of experience and now President Obama is following suit. Hope and change are not useful in a world that requires tangible results.
In today's Sharp Report I ask you a question, should men use the ladies room if the men's room is occupied? In my opinion it isn't the gentlemen thing to do. Should women sneak into the men's room if the line for the ladies room is too long? Is there a double standard? Contact the show and let me know what you think.
I would love it if just once a disgraced public figure would be truly honest during their confession and admit that they really aren't sorry for what they did. Whether it is Elliot Spitzer, Bill Clinton, David Letterman or Roman Polanski, I wish they would just say that they are sorry they got caught.
Even Martha Stewart showed more grit then all these "men" combined. When she was busted for insider trading she went to the can and took it like a man. Taking responsibility for one's actions and not wasting our time with insincere apologies is the mark of a real man. Or as Martha would say, "it's a good thing."
It what has been described as a "crushing" blow, Barack Obama's windy city was not chosen to host the 2016 Olympic Games. In fact they were blown out in the first round.
I understand that he is capable of walking and chewing bubble gum at the same time but between the late night appearances, plugs for television shows and "date night" I am beginning to wonder if I have a President or a pseudo celebrity in the White House.
Los Angeles has decided to tackle the issue of graffiti by making the homeowners pick up the tab on protecting their homes. In my opinion this is a classic case of punishing the victim. The destruction of property is a crime and the punishment for this crime needs to be harsher.
I propose that the government seize the property of those convicted on tagging up to 300% of the cost to repair or replace the damaged property. Requiring homeowners to spend money on graffiti protection for their homes does nothing to address the root issue of criminal behavior and amounts to little more than a Band-Aid on a broken arm.
I never thought I would see the day when we were celebrating communism in America. No, this is not some Glenn Beck rant about how Obama is turning America into the United Socialist States. I am just perplexed as to why we would allow the use of an iconic American symbol to celebrate the anniversary of China's communist revolution. It just seems contrary to our values as a nation. I doubt China lights up Tiananmen Square on July 4th.
There is nothing like a multi-millionaire preaching to us about how unfair the system is. The utter stupidity of rich liberals is that they condemn the very principles that made them successful.
The fact is most people are not willing or able to do what it takes to accumulate mass wealth. That is why so few have so much. If you want to change things you don't tear down those who have found a way to succeed, you throw out of office the politicians that are rubberstamping corrupt policies.
Capitalism is not evil; it just is not ruled by emotions. Capitalism is moved by profit. Evil is stealing from those who found a way to be successful through hard work, creativity and persistence.
So let me get this right, if you are a famous director, singer or other assorted celebrity we are suppose to put aside that you are a child rapist? According to the reaction of some French politicians, polish officials and some in the art community, yes.
I don't care what "misconduct" took place at the District Attorney's office in 1977. The fact that this man drugged and raped a 13 year old girl at age 43 and then fled the consequences is all that matters to me.
It is time that this rapist be a man and faces the consequences of his actions. The fact that the victim, who was paid a huge settlement, or that many years have past is irrelevant. Making good movies, music or art does not make one above the law.
The Kardashians just struck again. I guess the third of the K girls couldn't stand to be left out of the chaos. Apparently she is getting married to Lamar Odom after only one month of dating. It took my two months just to pick out a ring for my fiancée.
I am sick of celebrities and other assorted idiots making a mockery out of marriage. I respect the institution and the vows that come with it. I really wish society as a whole would do the same.
A debate sprung up on my Facebook page today about what brings meaning to life. I think it is a great discussion and I encourage you to participate. You can go to www.facebook.com/benprattradio or Contact Us.
I am open to all viewpoints, just keep it clean and show respect for those with whom you disagree.
I have to stop myself when I feel the inclination to tell someone in their twenties that they have "plenty of time". It is an absolute lie. First off, I have no idea how much time you have. Second, time passes by so quickly that before you know it you are getting married.
Thirty is the new twenty for a generation with the what I call a "lazy-fair" attitude. If you want to make it in this world you need to do it better than the other guy who is working for pennies on the dollar in some third world nation.
Don't fall victim to the mentality that being American means you are entitled to success. It must be earned and it takes much longer than you think.
Americans love instant success. Whether its 15 minute abs, millions in minutes a day from the comfort of your own home or instant energy without sleep, we are culture obsessed with the easy way out. I decided to attend a business conference that I thought would give some specific pearls of wisdom for the business side of Sharp Radio.
Let me put it this way, I can save you hundreds of dollars in just 90 seconds. Now that is value you can take to the bank, don't you think?
Thank you for participating when I post questions up on FaceBook or write a new column here. I picked some good points made by you in my latest Sharp Report.
The feminist's man hating agenda has created such a toxic environment on America's college campuses that it takes little more than an accusation to land a man in the clink. This has happened at Duke, Brown and now Hofstra University.
After the truth comes out these cases are shoved under the rug and the accuser that destroyed one or more lives with her lie is allowed to get off without punishment.
Too many women have been told that they need not take any responsibility in regards to the issue of sex. Considering the vile nature of the crime, law enforcement needs to punish the false accusation as aggressively as they asses the guilt of a man accused.
I have no problem with men's only or women's only groups. Unfortunately there are some that believe that there should never be gender specific groups. This thinking has lead to absurdities like girls in The Boy Scouts. In today's Sharp Report we see what happens when the roles get reversed and a man invades a "ladies only" Poker tournament.
I want you to put politics aside and ask yourself a question, is it "hate speech" to disagree with a person's political ideas if that person is a racial minority? Is it sexist to disagree with a woman? Does it mean you hate homosexuals if you disagree with gay marriage? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you are not being rational.
Character assassination is an old tactic that is being used with reckless abandon by some of our elected officials and their surrogates to deflect legitimate criticism and debate.
It is the responsibility of those in power, to listen to those that elected them and not indiscriminately launch accusations of hate, just because the free people of this nation take issue with some of the recent actions by our elected officials. The right to protest applies to all in this nation, not just those with whom you agree.
I know celebrities pull stunts to get attention and sometimes lose touch with reality but Kanye West is certifiable. Not only did he ruin a wonderful moment for an accomplished singer but he demonstrated once again, what a petty, immature and classless fool he is. If this is the direction that the rap industry is heading, I expect Dr. Dre to be making some phone calls real soon.
Sharp Radio remembers September 11th, 2001. Never forget the innocent men, women and children that died that day. We also honor those in our armed forces that continue the fight in the war on terror. God Bless America.
Where there is no respect there can be no love. I will never understand why so many women feel entitled to completely humiliate their boyfriends and husbands in public. In today's Sharp Report I show you what happens when you don't set the rules in place early in your relationship.
I asked people on Facebook if they thought that chivalry was dead. Based on their response, it appears that it is in the very least on life support.
Feminism has created a generation of men that act like women and a generation of women that are border line intolerable. I have no hope that women will change their behavior so it is up to the men to step up and demonstrate how a man should act whether the feminists like it or not.
Take the situation in today's Sharp Report. What is wrong with a girl that will tolerate her boyfriend making her pump the gas while she chauffeurs him around like a princess? With levels of testosterone this low it is only a matter of time before men start getting pregnant.
With Cancer, AIDS and the common Cold out there it really aggravates me to think that scientist are wasting time studying the obvious.
Psychologists at Radboud University in The Netherlands carried out a study that came to the shocking conclusion that men lose some of their brain function when talking to attractive women.
Next time they should just send me the research funds so I can find something more useful to do with the money, like burn it.
President Obama is taking a lot of heat for his administration writing a plan with the DOE, requesting school kids write essays about how they can help him accomplish his goals.
I think it is a good thing that the President wants to address education however; I wish he would push students to read more American History, Math and Science. I wish he would help students understand that America is a unique place in the world and has been a shining light of hope for the rest of the world instead of a place we need to apologize for.
Despite what may have been good intentions, it appeared that he was just trying to set up the next generation of voters to take a personal liking to him thus increasing their likelihood to vote Democrat in the future.
He need not worry about that, the vast majority of educators are liberals. From Kindergarten through college, America's young people are bombarded with social indoctrination instead of facts and reason.
The use of children in political causes sickens me. Whether teachers are brain washing children with alternative lifestyles and environmental speculation or parents are dragging kids to abortion rallies, the manipulation of children is reprehensible no matter what your political views.
Today I posted a question on Facebook about Promise Rings. The response was 100% against them. Considering the fact that I am getting married in less than two months, I get insulted by those that assert that non-committed situations are equal to marriage.
The argument that the institution of marriage is just a piece of paper is just a weak rebuttal to the reality of a person who doesn't want to commit. Promise rings are nothing more than a half ass way to hang on to a girl that is dumb enough to stick around hoping that the promise of marriage is down the road.
If you want to make a promise, you can; it's called engagement. If you want a commitment, we have word for that too, marriage.
One of the most nauseating expressions of the last few years is, "30 is the new 20." What it really means is "I want to stay an immature brat and not have to grow up." In the process of this Benjamin Button style digression, men are now trading some of the greatest pleasures in life for kid's games. In today's Sharp Report I give you my take on the choice between sex and video games.
Today I had to waste my valuable time removing a questionable finance charge from my AMEX bill. It was not allot of money but that was not the point. As if it isn't bad enough that they sent me my bill late while at the same time jacking up their fees and penalties, but when you get the bill, said penalty is hidden way in the back.
The bottom line is that you must always be on guard especially when it comes to routine bills that you can easily grow numb to. Five minutes of checking can save you allot of money over the long haul.
Rawlings has just come out with a new helmet called the S100. It will be required gear for all who play in the Minors starting next year. With athletes getting stronger and skulls not getting any thicker you would think players would clamor to get the new protection. Unfortunately there are some that are so used to having no weight above the shoulders, a heavier helmet is just too much weight to bear.
I understand that the death of the third longest serving member of the Senate and the last of the Kennedy brothers is news but I don't see the need to follow every turn of his hearse. While the bleeding hearts will all mourn the death of Camelot which was pretty much dead over 40 years ago and turn a blind eye to the reality of what Ted Kennedy was as a whole, I can't shake the feeling that something is terribly wrong with the recent white washing of criminal behavior by the departed.
I think we need to put away the Kleenex and break out the history book. This is a moment to reflect on the entire life of a person. Shoving the bad under the carpet and hiding behind the word respect is an insult to our intelligence and our values as a society.
In a previous Sharp Report I told you how I believe AMEX tried to hit me with late fees by sending me my bill late. Magically my latest bill showed up on time. In this report I prove my theory. This is a must listen!
There is probably nothing more priceless than the face of a straight guy the first time he is unexpectedly walked into a drag show. Hear how I ended up at Hamburger Mary's in West Hollywood and how your fearless host broke some stereotypes.
We now another way to waste our time, improperly communicate and fool ourselves into thinking that the world gives a crap about our meaningless lives. By the way, you can follow me at www.Twitter.com/SharpRadio
In today's Sharp Report I tell you how American Express is party to a very interesting coincidence. As a matter of practice I always pay my entire bill in full and on time. Interestingly enough I get my bill later than usual while at the same time receive a notice from AMEX that they are raising their APR rates and late fees. This is a must listen if you want to avoid getting caught by what appears to be a shady business practice.
In today's Sharp Report I interview Gregor Collins Co-Lead of the Night Before the Wedding which is a movie about a good man's last night being single. In the film he is presented with a choice between the man he is and the person some of his friends want him to be.
Gregor and I also discuss bachelor parties in general and find out if this movie is an accurate portrayal of most men's night before their wedding.
I interviewed Daniel Sol, Co Founder of The HollyShorts Film Festival running from August 6th through the 13th. I highly recommend that you learn more about this great even if you are not in the movie industry. The festival has something for everyone and cost less to attend than a ticket to the movies. To learn more go to www.HollyShorts.com or click on the banner at the top of my home page.
Is it reasonable for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to call it "nonsensical" for Michael Jackson's family to pick up the tab for his funeral? The city is pushing a budget deficit of over 400 million while Michael Jackson has a net worth of 236 million. To me the math is simple and so is the logic, but I guess common sense isn't common especially in City Hall.
Al Sharpton and others like to suggest that society and America is responsible for the death of Michael Jackson. I offer a different perspective in this week's Sharp Report.
On Sunday June 28thThe Group Room focused their discussion on skin cancer. The guest was Jennifer Linder, M.D. a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs skin cancer surgeon based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Linder also serves as a clinical instructor at University of California, San Francisco in the Department of Dermatology. She is a formally-trained bioengineer and chemist and is Chief Scientific Officer for PCA SKIN (www.pcaskin.com).
Dr. Linder offers some useful information for men dealing with ingrown hairs and a recommendation for what type of shaver to use if you are currently receiving Cancer treatment.
Many women go to the bar and "act" single. This way they can get attention AND free drinks. Don't fall prey to this game. Be SHARP and ask her before you waste any time or money.
